We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

He's just signed a 5 year contract so his value has increased since our last cheeky bid

Our valuation of him should not have altered (subject to any pre-planned negotiation limits).

Whether they choose to accept our offer or not, is entirely up to them. But it might be the best offer they get.

I'd prefer Jason Kenny at this point

Looking at last night's performance, Celtic's issues aren't especially up front, but all over the pitch.

Evatt like, slow and tedious. Didn't seem up for it.

Reckon they could do with an ACD type..

A bit like watching us first half against Lincoln?

Don't want Kenny now we have Dalby and Burstow especially on loan.

Any striker we get in now should be a been there done that older head, we don't need another player with potential.

yeah but they just tied him up to a new contract because they don't want to sell him

our valuation may not have altered, but theirs has, it's gone up and they aren't looking to sell anyway, because, new contract

I don't want him either, for some reason i seem to think they may have been hanging on for him given that we haven't signed anyone else.

I can't believe we're planning to go into the first half of the season with only two strikers to choose from especially given our previous with injuries.

I'd be more interested in trying to sign Burstow rather than Loan,

I like Burstow, show good movement, certainly puts in a shift. Get Dalby up to speed and they could form a good partenership. Need one other to back them up.

Dalby is an unknown (as yet, playing in this squad), so no one can really judge, It'll take a few games for him to get up to speed.

As for "number 10's" it doesn't matter what number they wear as as long the buggers put ball in the net!!

Footballs gone bloody mad, and its actually quite simple, score more goals than who you are playing!

We look good, a lot more positive than last season.

I'm a huge fan of Burstow. I think he's just what we need and has loads of room for improvement. Exactly the kind of player we should be trying to being to the club permanently.

Unless we can get Dan N'Lundlu back if course! 😁

I agree but since most of those have already been fixed up now can you think of who we could get?

I understand that. My point is we shouldn’t chase any price up. We’ve already valued him and should stick with that or walk away.

Anyone who we can afford. This isn’t a flippant answer by the way. Plenty to choose from I’m sure.

I think the sticking point, if there is one, is that we don't sign older players as a rule.  Eg I couldn't see us going for Jamie Reid, even though he wouldn't command a huge fee at 31.   Will Keane the same.  (These are just eg's I can think of, I'm not saying they are right for us).

So we're talking about younger, proven strikers that we can afford that would play in L1, they aren't growing on trees.

I'd have Kenny Everett at this rate.

That me or you know of. Absolutely but I’d expect Harkin and the other chap to know a bit more. Similar to how no one knew Kenny.

Not saying Kenny is going to turn out to be a bad player but we could do with some experience in the side to go with the promise currently there.

Yes, they'll know more about players that have "proved themselves" elsewhere - Scotland, Ireland, abroad.  Not so much L1 or L2, if they've done it in England we'll know about them, if not their availability or value.

Anyway, as you say that's their job, they'll sort it in the 5 days, I'm certain they won't risk relying on the availability of 2 (fairly similar) strikers for the next 5 months.

Problem with the journeyman option - james collins for an eg - i dont think they give up playing regular to be one of 3

Cameron Jerome has put me off old hand journeymen for life.

yeah but I genuinely don't think there's a deal to be done here in terms of permanent transfer

it all looks very much like we're holding out for a loan

whether their shite result last night affects that in anyway, I dunno

in any case

we've got less than a week to find a type of forward that we seem to want to bring in

you'd think someone like clayton donaldson wouldve done that miles before.

or maybe keith andrews .

Not a lot in it with the clay dog. At least he was a division higher

I raise you a McGoldrick 😀

And no I'm not advocating him now, but as an example of an experienced, proven player compared to a younger more experienced version.  We went for the potential and re-sale value of Vic and Dan over the dead money of getting a McGoldrick 10 years older than them.  Well we wouldn't be sat here now saying we should have spent £800k on them two.

We need to agree to stop mentioning Dan. Loan, shite, the board still sanctioned it. Fucking loons
