We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Ollie Palmer at Wrexham being moved on. Could we, should we?

Rather have Sam Smith.

Isn't he nearly 40

Never scored more than 14 goals in any EFL season and that was in L2 in 18/19.

I can see where Dobra would fit in as he’s a tidy player, brings others into play and scores a few himself - could easily play as a 10. He’s the right age profile for Schumacher ie 24 but he is little though. Kenny is younger, bigger and stronger, but we can’t buy him can we? Imagine Chesterfield would want an arm and a leg for him.

I'd rather have Sam Smith the singer than Palmer. Looked a lump against us last season.

Aye. It had us winning the League early last season. Utter bollocks, same as all that xG bullshit.

IF!,  we finished 10th would SS still be in the job?

Maybe, but we'd be facing losing players.

Simply can't see the Swiss continually chucking their money away.

Context would be the big one here.

There’s only one thing for sure that would’ve happened if he finishes 10th and he’s still in a job, he will have ridden a storm of criticism and abuse from a certain cohort of fan!

Abuse is clearly always wrong and should be stamped out from football, I’m sure we all agree on that. Criticism though? I don’t mind admitting that if we finish 10th this season & unless something extraordinary contributed to it, I’d personally be very critical of SS as that would represent a really poor season. Perhaps I’m alone in that though.

Nah course you wouldn’t.

I think everybody would be disappointed with under achieving again.

Criticism valid, abuse not.

Not a chance in Hell we’ll finish anywhere near as low as 10th, it’s top six at least no problem.

Swiss? Ben Luckock (Nick’s brother) and his mates are English.

They just happen to work together for a Swiss company.

I think it's the investors behind them that are Swiss

Aye.

Is has been mentioned numerous times before!

A little bit of a flutter with their own dosh, but eventually they will get fed up, if there is nothing to show for it.

1. Because it nicely sets up the armchair manager v supercomputer battle of the bullshitters head to head

2. Because there is f*** all to talk about transfer-wise yet.

Each to their own but none of that is doing it for me

The company is called Trafigura and I'd say it was about as Swiss as I am. It has an office in Geneva though a quick Google search tells me it's actually registered in Singapore. Looking on companies house the names are all of an Anglo Saxon flavour. Swiss angle seems a a product of Iles' PTSD in doing any research on finances.

He actually said some of them were American on his podcast the other week but this Swiss angle seems to have stuck - which is fair enough because Toblerone addiction is just a serious as heroin.
