We'd have won had Clough bagged that sitter on Saturday

Sad to see him go, but we'll now see if Parkinson has any "plan Bs"

Tbf, he didn't miss it

Hope that we are getting plenty of the Forest money up front.

doubt it

based only on LA retweeting someone who said:

dont deal with fawaz mate. He doesnt have the money to get our zach. Time waster

dunno if the retweet was because he agreed, he didn't say

Wasn't that just part of some banter about some kid signing Clough to play in his back garden?

dunno, it gets hard to follow, he looks to have deleted a tweet about Clough not being for sale as well, though that may just be someone fucking about

they don't help themselves though when they tweet stuff like this:

for the record, there was this from the Bolton News:

“I have discussed it with the manager and I don’t intend to sell any players,” he told The Bolton News. “That is not to say if someone came in and said ‘here’s £10million for Zach Clough’ we wouldn’t take a commercial view, but we don’t expect that.

so presume it was around £10M, probably still in instalments though or based on Forest doing something of note

it could well be that we had to sell him because of some financial issue that they didn't know about which is a potential reason, but when he took over he said:
We’ve spent a lot of time on the financials. We’ve gone through them with a fine tooth comb and we now know what direction we will be heading. We have a commercially viable business plan for next season.

so fuck knows why we sold him and how much for

see what they say next

That's clearly a big number and a player plucked from thin air to make a point.

Things have clearly changed financially since then, the rest of it's just guessing.

I don't think he wanted to go, and I don't think anyone wanted him to. But...

Anyway, let's wait and see what Thogden has to say before we draw any conclusions.

Unless there are parallel universes somewhere that we can see, no one can say whether Alf will score more than Clough, or how a change of formation will affect things.

It just feels very disappointing.

Hopefully all will be well, but results will need to improve quickly or things could get a bit ugly again.

Irrespective of whether ka had to sell clough, folk are still disappointed, and in the heat of a match if its going a bit shit, the crowd will start to vent its frustration.

so what was the point exactly?

end of the day it's all guesswork

no one knows

you just have to go off what they say and interpret it to suit, which is what we're all doing

seems when he said this yesterday:

Many of the decisions we are taking now are not pleasant, but are absolutely necessary if we are to have any chance of being successful, both on and off the field in the future, and we hope you will continue to support us and understand why this course of action is being taken. Sometimes you have to take the medicine in order to get better, even if it is unpleasant.

he was planning on selling Clough, that's how I'll interpret it anyway

even with that statement, we're still left guessing if things have changed financially since last month when he said no one was for sale, at the Q&A he said:

Neither of the players want to go. If Chelsea came in they might consider it. I'm not saying they'll still be here in two years but not in this window.

I have given my assurance to PP that unless someone comes in with £10m. There is a third, Beevers, but at the moment we don't intend to change the squad.

but nothing in the statement from yesterday suggested anything had changed financially since the last Q&A - i.e. everything he spoke about yesterday he knew then

anyway, fuck it, he's gone and nowt we can do about it, and I'm not sulking or saying Ken's a cunt and not supporting them etc. but not really into applauding the the openness of KA and LA as it's business as usual at the end of the day

Can't disagree too much with the last paragraph.

I got the impression he thought the Blu Marble thing was going to be a bit more straightforward, though.

Disappointed to see zach go but that's football, to be honest I thought he would have ripped this league a new one this season but it's not really happened for him. The return of ALF hopefully will bring us goals but please not alongside Madine, I think the lad long was brought in to take cloughs roll and hopefully he will do well and we could possibly sign him up at the end of the season. Some of the comments on twitter about the clough transfer are unbelievable and probably from people who don't even go to the game, maybe if they did we might not have to sell our best players in the future. The more who buy the super 7 ticket the better but I fear the selling of clough will have given them an excuse not to.

He hit it at Madine, so it was insufficiently accurate

Don't know anything about Chris Long apart from he's 5"11 and I think ALF is about 5"9, will PP play them instead of Madine? Can't see it myself as I think PP prefers a target man up top.

Maybe this will work out ok with two more non attached players coming in. IMO for what its worth we couldn't have sustained

a decent promotion charge with the status quo that coupled with our obvious financial problems  have resulted in the sale of Clough

& the arrival of new players hopefully  with a bit of pace at least.

KA has gambled I think he is right , doing nothing was not an option .

Most of all we will be solvent for a bit longer !

"The deal helps us out from a financial point of view during what is a very challenging time and we didn’t want to stand in his way"

The first bit is all that really matters

but the last bit, well, Casino's source said he didn't want to go

fuck it

Said he was gutted too, would a player be gutted if he wanted to go.

Posted

To put another twist on it Forest could go down and we could go up as KA put in a condition if they sell we get 50% sell on clause there fore we get zac back cheaper just a thought.

Posted

Reading KA statement it was a financial decision not a football decision I think things behind the scenes are in a right mess.and cash flow is a problem. KA cannot keep bankrolling wages.
