You don't get decent midfielders for 500k.

morris, dawson and bishop at scunthorpe were all free transfers, so it can be done

not easy, mind

I'd still class Vela as a midfielder, just more attacking midfield (recently anyway)

In terms of the two sitting in front of the back 4 Spearing has been great but we should have more than enough with the likes of Thorpe, Derick, Trotter and Vela (if required) to sit in next to him

Even with the recent blip we still have the best defence in the league, the fact that only 9 teams have scored less than us is the problem which points towards the attacking midfield / strikers. I really don't think the 2 sitting in front of the back 4 is our issue. If we got promoted it's another story but we can worry about that in the summer :-)

It's the final 3rd that's been our achilles heel this season. Hopefully with our new attacking additions, we can maybe turn a corner. lots of pressure/expectation on Alf, but he's vastly experienced and I reckon he could be the best signing of the season.

Also, Alf is supposed to be out of contract at Cardiff in the summer, so maybe he'll sign permanently?

theres not a forward pass in beevers, wheater, spearing or thorpe

add vela into that as was once again seen on saturday

vela, when scoring, does a job, but his goals have dried up

Vela needs to play in his advanced midfield role.

He's the only one with the legs to get up to support when Madine holds it up (or more likely it bounces off him as he couldn't trap a bag of shit)

A discussion on our midfield strength could only end up with one conclusion.......Madine's fault!

A pass is only as good as the receiver :)

...as my pe teacher used to say.

and the only one who seems to put pressure on the back four / keeper when the ball is played back, or the one most likely to

My PE teacher used to feel our backs to check they were wet after we'd been in the shower.

There was also a rumour that he was formerly an amateur boxer who'd killed someone in a bout once.

Weren't skoo mint

He was our most creative player last season, I liked him, having no striker didn't make his job any easier

No competition granted

I thought he was going to Cardiff in the last transfer window?

Feeney was wank

I never understood the hate for Feeney. Limited yes but worked his arse off and created more than most players in the team. When it looked like most of them couldn't give a shit, Feeney was always willing to give it a go. He'd do well for us this year if he was still here. I'd happily have him back.

The only 'senior' player from last season I was sad to see go. The rest could've fucked off no bother.
