Bigtoe Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I still think we will add a free agent or two to the mix Quote
tarian1979 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Though granted I've never seen him so let's see (unlike when signed trotter when instant comment that's proved bang on could be made) Quote
tarian1979 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I also think alf will get us goals in this league if used correctly. Quote
Blondi Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 If the birm kid was a great talent he'd be in their no wins in ten d ogshit side take as givenYeah but Zola is the Brum manager and he's a fooking useless cluless manager. Quote
Zico Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I thought undisclosed was common to possibly stop other clubs knowing what you have to spend. Seeing we cant buy anyone, it just seems a bit strange. other clubs aren't our problem suppliers are same thing probably Heathcoate might be banging on the door this morning saying pay up as per your contract, we know you've just got £3m, KA can say, no we've not, we only get £3M if Forest win the Champions League, till then, it's 120k Quote
bwfc2003 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I wouldn't say weaker yet, the kid from Brum is supposed to be a great talent so, fingers crossed he's a Ameobi replacement. Sad to see Clough go, but delighted ALF is back. Time will tell in the next few games if we're weaker. problem with this Brummie is he hasnt played a first team game for 3 years (according to Wicki) Quote
gonzo Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 There's a reason only forest and Bristol offered less than £3 million for the lad. He's not some mythical £5 million beast nobody knew about. Folk need to get a grip and remember where the fuck we've been for the past 3 seasons with him in the side. Quote
Carlos Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 No real point disclosing fees unless you get the breakdown, people out there genuinely believe clubs receive the full amounts stated. Quote

jules_darby Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 The team Stronger or weaker? Nobody can possibly say until the lads have played, but logically it all makes sense Also, perhaps frustratingly, more important is that the club is stronger with the Clough money Quote

Folk need to get a grip and remember where the fuck we've been for the past 3 seasons with him in the side. I'm not saying we should have got more or that he should've gone to the PL or someone better It's how important he is to us this season and in the grand scheme of things he could have been worth more than £3m to us if he helped us get up as there's no denying he's a big reason why were pushing for top 2 so far Beevers and Vela are equally important and they attracted interest from scuthorpe and a 500k bid from wigan, is there a reason why that's the only interest they generated? Though it doesn't matter as they are also important to our push for automatic promotion so they are worth more than that to us Clough would still have been worth 3m in the summer We went into jan thinking we didn't have to sell So it's a bit shit Going for only 3m doesn't make him not that good all of a sudden, no doubt we'd have been worse off without him the last 3 years Quote
Ratwhite Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 Zero chance? I'd hate to be in the trenches with you! Been thinking overnight and with no Clough/Sammy, this season could literally go either way depending on these signings. Big gamble but if we go up PP/KA deserve massive credit for the decision making. We were stalling so the changes excite me! I think we'd hit play offs at worst whatever they did in the transfer window so with us ending up net financially and gaining a goalscorer and 2 more forwards for Clough I think true moves we made are entirely understandable. Great summary and agree Quote
passmosster Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Hope that we are getting plenty of the Forest money up front. Quote
marple whites Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Not a bad window in fairness. Clough for me has been trying not to get injured since early December and apart from set pieces hasn't offered a great deal. ALF offers a true finisher and things like 1 on 1's and being a menace in the box are right up there. This lad from Burnley seems ok from what I have heard from a Burnley fan at work. Massive month coming up and for me - lets see what happens Saturday. Quote

I think we are a stronger unit without him. His head goes all the time then it's like playing with 10 men. But you're scared to take him because he's got that one turn of pace in locker. I'd rather mould an attack round a goal scorer that doesn't miss 6 a game and a fanny that can't win a ball. We weren't going up relying on goals from Clough. I'm happy to have the money in the bank and a new strike force to have a go with. Set pieces and deflections weren't getting us up anyway. Quote
Horwich Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 If the birm kid was a great talent he'd be in their no wins in ten d ogshit side take as given Plus we just got rid of anderson who scored a hat-trick at the weekend Quote
bolton va va Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 On paper, we're weaker now by losing our 2 most creative players , Ameobi & Clough. It's hard to see how ALF fits in.......a tittyliner out & out goalscorer in a team that creates no chances & it might be that Long & the brummie will turn out to be the more influential signings. It'll be interesting to see how PP shuffles them all but it would be a shame if it all means that Vela is pushed back into a more defensive role. Quote
radcliffe white Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Henry really needs to up his game, had high hopes Quote
Didledee Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 So if the January transfer window didn't exist, Bolton wouldn't come summer? Quote
Ratwhite Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 Clough is still unproven. He is extremely intermittent. His dead ball ability is good (but so is Spearings), he has struggled to beat a man, and more often than not gets knocked off the ball. He also has a shit injury record to date. We cannot afford to loose many more "winnable" games (Swindon, Walsall, Chesterfield, Charlton etc), We need some fucker to stick the ball in the onion bag. Madine will never do it consitently, but with a new foil (Le Fondre / Long / Octobor) things may change. We were getting turgid and to continue with same tactics we would fail. At least we have shaken things up, got rid of Chris Taylor and tried to do something different. .......and if all else fails we still have Trotter Quote
Casino Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I'm hoping ALF can play the role Clough was playing Cos if he can, he will score more than Zach If it means we rip everything up and go 442 or ALF up top on his own, then I'm not so sure Quote

The last two home games have shown we are struggling in the final third, something had to change. Clough wonderful goal Saturday but not much else. Sorry to see him go for that money but we are skint and that was the offer we had. Hopefully plenty of clauses included. Quote
Guest Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 We'd have won had Clough bagged that sitter on Saturday Sad to see him go, but we'll now see if Parkinson has any "plan Bs" Quote
Happy Wanderer Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Why undisclosed? It will be £4.5M as that was always the selling price for our players Quote
