Re Ward: - obviously I'd prefer a ruthless striker but we don't know the budget or the options so as Ward is "an Evatt style player" the rumour could have some legs. Hopefully, they'll come up with a more imaginative signing or three. Ok from now on itโs Sir Lusty!! ๐ค From pleb no1 ๐ Edited December 22, 20223 yr by Whitesince63

Exactly the type of player we should be looking atย Precisely. With our budget we mostly have to get championship players who are slightly past their best but we have seen how well that works with Lee and Bodvarsson. ย Of course these players tend to be more injury prone but it is the market we are in and if we get 20-25 games a season then it makes good sense.
December 22, 20223 yr Isnโt Ward more of a winger? If so Evatt does not like wingers.ย Apologies if wrong but seems odd if so? ย
December 22, 20223 yr I think his best position is cutting on off the left, a bit like Dapo... As I said before I'd be happy with the signing in principle, although a brief look at Terriersways and they said he's not been in great form this season and is likely carrying an injury. Our squad is pretty young as a whole so the addition of a couple of experienced pros could be what we need. Edited December 22, 20223 yr by jmjhb
December 22, 20223 yr I don't think he does improve us, he's on the downward projectory of his career, how many forwards do we need? A 32 Yr old, 1 in 5 scorer is not the answer. We can't even play our current strikers to their strengths. Should be concentrating on that.

That goes back to Doyle. I donโt think that will change. With that in mind, if we can upgrade then Iโm all for it. Just donโt want the square pegs for round hole scenarios.
December 22, 20223 yr Itโs about marginal improvements Across the squad depth though. Weโre not going to go from MJ to Kante and Baka to a top end champ strikerย Ward looked pretty tidy here pre season if memory serves so if your main 2 are missing or your struggling to create something Iโd be more hopeful of a Ward changing something than a Kacha / Baka..ย FWIW Iโd imagine itโs one in one out along that front line with Sadlier the probable departeeย

December 24, 20223 yr A Premier loan ideally a striker, would help our push. But they need to be ready to go straight in the team. No idea whatโs out there or what they would cost. ย Otherwise the usual out of contract in the summer available for a small fee type, ideally from the Championship like Ward.

A savvy manager would limit the amount of loan players we get. Short term fixes are not what we want and we need a long term plan. Let's be honest, if Trafford, or Bradley were recalled now, it would impact us massively.ย Meanwhile we have an able backup keeper who's confidence has gone as he's been dropped since our rough patch last year.ย
