Eavesy
Holding and vela are down to our transfer ban. Vela had to play right back as we had none. And then centre mid when spearing couldn't play. Holding had to play right back and then centre back as we had none. If we hadn't had the transfer ban we would have gone and signed someone on loan. 100%. Holding would still be playing for the reserves instead of starting for arsenal in the champions league. The club shits itself any time we don't have 2 senior pros for every position. We have moxey sat doing fuck all when honeyball could be on the bench. We now have 6 centre midfielders for 2 positions meaning perry and earling get no where near the team.
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 16, 2016 Site Supporter Share Posted December 16, 2016 No doubt an element of luck when kids get a chance. Some of the ones tried last year seemed no worse than their experienced counterparts, although by then we were stuffed. PP had to get a squad together in quick time so no problems with his clear out; but I'm sure we have youngsters coming though who will do a job at some point soon. Get the league won early and some might get a chance!

gonzo
was thinking about this Vela (23) and Holding & Clough (21) are the best we've produced in some time and thinking would have started with us around 2002/3/4 it seems like our most productive academy spell for a while - would that be down to luck, or the fact we were in the PL and able to attract a better calibre of kid I'd say it's because we are at a shite level now and vela and clough wouldn't have got near the team in the premiership and would've probably been packed off by now. Youri McAnespie
We wouldn't need them in the premiership, we could have class like Benik Afobe for £10m and fuck knows how much per week...

gonzo
Doing a malc here, he made his debut in the prem. So did Nicky Hunt. There's a reason he's playing in league 1. And it's not because he's gone under the radar.

Just turned 23, he'll play at a higher level than this.

He's been completely bobbins for as long as I can remember and will never make a premier league player in the memory of man. Decent at this level obviously. Moderators Casino Posted December 16, 2016 Author Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2016 Tbf if there's anybody wants somebody to do the job Vela is doing for us but in the division above, I'm pretty sure he's currently playing well enough to do it What he's doing is very similar to the young Nolan Plenty work and that fantastic knack of scoring goals I don't think he'll ever make a fullback or a traditional midfielder but in the Nolan role he's currently very good Well done PP
Kane57
Exactly. Thought at the start of the season he might be at his level but in this new role he's exceeding all expectations.

Well done to PP for making that call and I'd say big Sam made same call with KN.
Members DazBob
So did Nicky Hunt. Nicky Hunt's career went down the pan because he's a local lad.
Leyther_Matt
Said it on here before but when we beat Sunderland away in the cup a few years ago Vela was head and shoulders about anyone else on the pitch. Shame he had so much time wasted at right back.

Eavesy
And Everton at home in the cup. He was superb that day. That was the game when we suddenly decided to play football. We suddenly started passing to ngogs feet and he looked a world beater.

MalcolmW
Ngog now plays for a Greek team I've never heard of and has expressed a desire to move back to adlington Panionios were in the UEFA Cup the last time we were, but eliminated in the group stage. They had finished one point and one place beneath Aris, who we drew with. Edited December 16, 2016 by MalcolmW

When the town got the fever for European football? 10,000 at home including 4,000 lads from Greece in bright yellow knocking coppers' hats off?!
