Port Vale 0-2 Wanderers

I'm not getting this clamour for Henry he's been piss poor and had his chances, formation change and different style of play is the answer for me.

Based on our last 3 performances, the only time we resembled anything like a football team was when Henry was on the pitch. We resort to hoof ball because 2 of our 3 central midfielders rarely sue for the ball.

Our reliance on moving the ball out to Morais has become quite predictable and easy to defend against, although his delivery is still more often than not fantastic.

A lot of that is due to Vela dropping deeper, he's got much more influence on the game by dropping deeper and wanting the ball. There's no point having a number 10 if he's watching it go back and forth over his head.

a formation change and different style of play would more than likely mean changing personnel though

assuming we need to go more attacking, you're looking at bringing in

Long

Henry

Wilkinson

from what I've seen of those 3, I'd be bringing in Henry

no point in chucking in Soloman-Otabar to see what he can do unless it's as sub

Said it before I'd try Morais more central see if he can add creativity, not much choice who replaces him out wide so it would have to be Henry or Long but neither player look that brilliant to me. I'd hope we drop osede and possibly go to a back 4 and stop lumping everything forward and try to mix it up with playing from back to front at least on some occasions that would at least give the opposition something different to think about. A back 3 seems to encourage the defenders to play long diagonal balls all the time that's also got to be reined in and my reason for going to a back 4 where we have options to play down the side of teams. we haven't got a right back who has played a game in the last 3 months

3 at the back doesnt lead to long ball, not having a midfielder to pass to is the problem

im not sure i want vela nearer our goal than theirs, but he, morais and henry are all happy to have the ball

them three are well capable of opening up port vale

its then 2 from 3 midfieders

ironic that derek and trotter who bossed port vale wont be in the team, tomorrow

remember, so long as we dont lose, we lead going into the last game

I reckon if we'd have started the last 2 games with the teams we ended the games with, we'd be all but up.

Still can't get my head around 3 spoiling midfielders against the shite we were up against in Oldham and Bury.

Anyway, win and we're all but up regardless, positive and all that.

Go to a back four for me, Derik or Dorian at right back. Morais is wasted at wing back and as happened in the last two games if we don't score he ends up further up the pitch and can leave the back three exposed to a break.

Need Morais near their box not wasting his energy charging up and down the line. He's our best bet to create a chance.

no point in sticking a guy who specialises in crosses in the middle as we become weaker out wide - to me it sounds like DF playing Rob Hall out of position in our biggest match of the season to see what happens

would bring in henry and wouldn't be bothered if he replaced pratley or osede- but we need another body in the middle willing to pick the ball up and move forward with it, like he did against scunthorpe for example

With the pitch being wide according to PP, it wouldn't surprise me if Wabara played in a 4-4-2. Morais played on the left at MK in his debut so could do the same with Henry right. Vela & Spearing in the middle, ALF and long up top

I would give a lot to see us promoted tomorrow.

My son has never witnessed a promotion and wants it so much.

Don't normally get nervous, but I am for this.

This is where I'm at and why I'm so pissed off with our current form I want it badly for my lad who's stuck with it despite a piss poor few years. Anyhow we're at Vale tomorrow and want the footballing gods to do us a favour as it would make it a top top day. COYWM this is fucking masssive day.

And me - junior marple has only seen a downward spiral since he started watching - we need to win this !!

like i say, we aint got a right back :)

We haven't really got a left or right wing back either, yet we are still playing that system.

3 at the back has worked well, but I don't think it suits us without Madine. Need to get other scoring options higher up the field. Morais needs to be attacking not defending. Henry needs to be up there too. Having three centre backs who can't pass a ball, doesn't work well either when they haven't a target up front to hit. It is a waste.

It should but we don't use it. Asking Taylor to cover the left virtually on his own means we're too reliant on Morais for crosses. Hopefully can use it to utilise Long's pace if they don't thump it too far.

Agree - big wide pitch, right then - lets use it rather than the pitch in the sky !!
