I will literally piss my sides when the great unwashed scouse cunts drive Sam out, the most delusional set of fuckwit fans ever.

  • aye   look at where he took us from and where he got us too and the situation we found ourselves in   you can bang on about the likes of Cid, McCann and Samuel, but look at the others he did great

Is it ok to now give Phil Gartside some credit for those signings? Without him Eddie D wouldn't of happened or any of the European ventures. Golden memories. Thanks P.G. RIP

Can't agree there mate. We'll never know just how good he is/was as he didn't manage a big club.

Let's be honest, utd and arsenal weren't going to call as they had long term managers. Once fergie had gone, they were always going for a big name.

Chelsea had the mourinho love in.

He got shafted at the geordies and has done well everywhere else. The one thing he did do was manage supposedly difficult players and that would have stood him in good stead.

I seem to recall that in the season the Ferguson said he was going to retire, but didn't, that PG was quoted as saying he would be prepared to drive Sam over to OT if the call came.

He was acknowledging that Sam could no longer satisfy his ambitions at Bolton, and that, all things considered it would be best for all concerned. But Ferguson decoded to carry on for quite a while beyond 2002.

He got a hundred odd games out of Nicky Hunt in the Premier League. That tells you all you need to know.

Remember that. PG was on the radio and said it. He wouldn't let Sam go to a club lower than us or words to that effect.

Sanchez- I don't think you can compare the situation with managers and players. Managers have to be judged over a good few seasons, and BSA showed his promise before he came to us. Then went on to show with us that he could manage at a far higher level than purely relegation threatened teams.

The opportunities for the top jobs don't come up that often and as has been said before, English managers do seem to get overlooked.

The guy at Bournemouth has worked miracles and plays a decent brand of football, gradually building his team. Doubt we'll see him at utd, arsenal etc any time soon.

Only a handful of managers could have achieved what Allardyce did with this club imo. It should never be under estimated....that said he probably is a cnut.

Love him, what he did for us, where he took us. Felt profoundly let down by him with the England thing, was proper delighted when he got that job too. The stupid, stupid idiot.

There's been several occasions where I've gotten over the bitterness, staff poaching, the way he left us etc. and decide I have no animosity. Then he goes and acts the cunt.

The latest was when we got Palace in the FA cup. I'd read his book with fond memories, felt sorry for him with the England debacle and was happy to see him back in the prem rebuilding his reputation. I sincerely wished him all then best.

Then I read he called Parky "Gary Parkinson", then had a go at our home attendance, which was more than premier league Palace got at their place. So once again, my mind is made up for now. Fuck him.

Now I see that as him being a bit embittered with PG and what happened. He genuinely believed he could take us further, and for me he's never been able to fully let go; he loves the club and is still wondering what might have been.

It just comes out as a dig; I take it as a compliment.

Usually when you read an autobiography you only get one side of the story so end up siding with them.

I read Big Sam's book (your copy obvs) and thought he was a cunt, which says it all to me.

An incredible manager for us, did an unbelievable job but fuck him. No booing from me, would rather ignore him, but I still struggle to fight the urge to give the V's to my screen whenever I see the video of his stupid face after Stu Holden bags that winner

I don't care what he's like as a man or what he's done since - he gave me some of the greatest footballing experiences of my life and so I'll be eternally grateful.

He could've taken us further

He just needed to keep his greedy son in check and chip in half of alan smiths transfer fee and wages

Within months of spending 8 million on Anelka he was bleating about some lack of ambition

And any hard feelings towards pg that you use to justify his petty bitterness should've been buried when garty died

That's what somebody with any decency would've done

He's a classless fat big headed cnut who did a great job while managing us

I'm not justifying his bitterness, far from it, you've got your knickers in a twist-its an explanation of how I see it.

It is to his detriment. It makes me laugh as its his weakness. I sure in his heart of hearts he knows he perhaps should have stuck it out longer. Move on under better terms.

I also agree that his moaning about a lack of ambition was unfair. At the time pg was applauded by many on here for not overspending, something I still agree with.

He is certainly full of himself, and that can rub folk up, but evidence suggests he's appreciated by players.

What he did with Bolton and what he did with England sum him up really and why I for one hold Rioch in higher regard class act - big sam good v v good but flawed

Loved Sam when he was here. Less so when he left. I think we worry about him more than he does us now.

I wouldn't say folk worry as such, but many seem to get worked up. As things stand he's nowt to do with the club.

If he chooses to make the odd disparaging remark so be it, leave him to it.

It was interesting that he completely ruled out a return to Palace but when asked about a return to Bolton completely dodged the question, heard a little rumour yesterday suggesting he could be on our radar should Parky fail to turn results round.

Stop it MK. I'll be getting giddy.

A second coming of the messiah would be beyond my wildest dreams. I would willingly throw my crombie over a puddle to help him stay dry as he traversed the car park.

I'd clear Parkinson's desk now if he wanted to come back

Me too. Not sure in what specific capacity though.

I just can't see it at all, I'm not sure we could even get close to paying him the sort of money that he would expect to be paid....and let's be honest, he likes money

I'd clear Parkinson's desk now if he wanted to come back

I'm trying really hard not to adopt that thinking. Can't argue with his achievements under difficult conditions, but if an investor came into the club, I'm not sure how effective his spending would be.

It would have to be equity upon promotion or summat

He's like Neil warnock. Good championship manager knows it inside out but can't make the step up to premiership. Parky is the same but it's league one he knows and can't hack the championship

He said no didn't he? I'm 100% positive that he won't come back here as manager. I think a Director role in a few years time might suit him. No way is he coming anywhere to fight a championship relegation battle. I could at a push see him fancying an incredibly well paid director of football role here with a younger coach but again I think he's still got ambition to manage again at a higher level.

Has he not just retired? :)

From what I heard losing a friend in the men bombing had a profound effect.

In terms of cash, he could probably buy the club.

Maybe an opportunity back at home would be appealing. Once the initial press coverage had died down, he'd be under less scrutiny than at a prem club, and he'd have more "time" from the supporters than those from other clubs.

Anyhow, all just hearsay.
