Wanderers Ways. Neil Thompson 1961-2021

I saw a synopsis on humorous panel shows recently. Some women's lobby or other was whingeing about gender imbalance on them.

The study concluded that women just aren't as funny as men in general and the policy would not change.

Another excuse to repost this moment of genius..... :-)

Youri - I tried your method but it didn't work! :-)

Emily Maitliss in on peanuts. Good. Can't stand the stupid bint. Hope she resigns never to be seen again

I'd love a go on her

She is probably only on about £100K per year, which is  a pretty dogshit wage compared to others who do the same job. Although I do know a few folk who wished they earned such a low wage

With regards to Chris Evans wage of £2M or whatever it is. I actually heard Christian O'Connell defending it this morning. His reasoning was that as Evans hosts the most listened to morning radio show in Europe (with circa 9M listeners) that he is actually good value for money. He reasoned/reckoned that if Evans went to a commercial station and could attract anything like that amount of listeners, he would be able to command a far higher wage than just £2M

I'm not fussed what any of them earn to be honest, the licence fee is only £147 per year, and I think it's fairly reasonable - they can spend that on whatever they want, I don't see why the press seem to be so obsessed with this. It's up there with folk complaining about the fact the Royal Family costs us about £0.65 each per year.

For balance, ITV paid Ant & Dec £29M last year  :shok:   (yes, I know we don't directly pay for that, but it does show the sort of money that is being paid for the "talent" that hosts these shows)

And take that crocked gobbed scotched with her.

Let's interview people, talk over them, be rude and ask/shout out the most inane, witless questions we can.

Kuennsberg? From what I've seen of it she has very good body...I'm in.

That sir is utter bollocks. Its not odd, its just boringly depressing.

The fact that many women are doing the same job and getting paid less is a fucking disgrace - and its not just the BBC, its everywhere. You simply don't get the same wage for the same job across many sectors.

woah there cocker... i didnt say anything about everywhere else, nor did i say it wasnt an issue in society.

if you jump down from that horse, you will note i said i didnt see it as an issue on the bbc. there are no women on the beeb that do a better job than higher paid blokes.

and if you do, then please list them... and dont come back with "chris evans is an overpaid wanker". think about the bigger picture and size of audience that person may entice.

thanks

lets compare the two current one show presenters, who tbf are of very similar quality imo

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Jones_(Welsh_presenter)

£400-450k

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Baker_(presenter)

£450-500k

and mr baker has done a little more work in last 12 months it seems

It seems that the BBC are now looking further in wage cuts for blokes. They've already achieved ten percent and want more. That should make the ladies feel happier.

You're absolutely right, you can pay them equally for me, so long as they do the same level of work, achieve the same level of success and have the same value to the organisation.

You could argue all their salaries are too high, but if that's the market rate then so be it.

Agreed. What value or insight does he add ? Fuck all. Nobody on MoTD worth listening to since Hansen departed.

Alan Hansen was on £1.5m back in 2011, and he insisted on being chauffeur driven from his home (Southport way, I think) to the studio and back again for each appearance.

BBC has a bad habit of trying to make stars out of bang average presenters, Gary Lineker being a case in point.

They seem to be pushing that ugly Geordie cnut from breakfast tv at the moment. She's popping up on everything lately.

I'm not one to knock anyone who earns a salary that we can only dream about but when it's funded by the public, it does make you wonder whether people watch Match of the day for the football or Gary Lineker.

Same with the morning show on Radio 2. Some of Chris Evans stand ins when he is away on (frequent) holiday are just as good if not better.

Whilst you lot are queueing for Laura's labia, I'd be more interested in Jane Hill, Kate Silverton or Sophie Raworth. Or all three.

You'd have to get past Hill's missus...

Jo Coburn anyone? I reckon she's the type to try and sneak a finger up one's gary mid thrust...

Nice alliteration btw...
