I've had a quick look, far too many variables involved to make comparisons over that time frame IMO. If we are not doing well how did we get to 5th largest economy? Good prudent management of the economy but the single market and customs union has to be a key factor don't you think? Quote

Spider Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Question. A serious one because i actually really need to know. On the 1st November, we leave. How soon after will we be signing trade deals with everyone and getting richer? Im honestly putting an optimistic hat on here, but since people on both sides have the answers, bows the time to give them. Will these deals all be done by Xmas? Quote

If we do leave in October (or January) then we have until December 2020 to agree a trade deal with the EU. So considering it has taken 3.5 years to get to this point it doesn't bode well for the most difficult element, a FTA, to be negotiated in the next 12 months with our closest and most important trading partner. Don't worry though we have agreed 15 continuity trade deals with 40 countries representing 8% of UK trade none of which are improved terms than we had in the EU, not one! So much so for negotiating these new and improved trade deals https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47213842 Quote

Yours and my interpretation of a lot of what’s been said on here are very different then in that case so let’s leave it at that and of course I should have added that’s in your opinion it’s going to be very shit for a long time. Because the truth is nobody knows despite protestations either way on the political and economic think tank that is this thread Edited October 14, 2019 by Escobarp Quote
