Farage made up for it in tonight's debate

These reform candidates appearing, often don't have the experience or backing to ensure it's running smoothly.

Bit like the Green party getting all these candidates and then having to swap them around due to their social media history.

Seen a few things on Reform candidates which would get them in bother etc, and because it's all been done very quickly, nobody is checking.

it's written with the red tinted specs of "everyone who goes to private school is rich and can afford 20% extra".

Schools don't have places.. This is every secondary in Bolton for year 7 entry, the sames replicated for most year groups.. so no idea where potentially 1500 kids would find school places.

They may have places at the other schools and can move around if families move out of the area, some have to go to schools out of the area, there will be some that don't have places, but those figures are really difficult to find..

The ones without waiting lists are the ones that struggle, soon as a space comes up, a kid gets managed moved, or someone moving into the area (normally immigration), Lot's of families are moving to the area.

One of the schools on there reduced their capacity a few years back as they couldn't fill it, and whenever someone moved to the area they ended up there. You get no extra funding for EAL (English additional language) and it's tricker to teach them as, well they don't tend to speak English very well.

So if you're under without a waiting list, you're getting kids who have just moved from abroad, who can't speak the language and hit your results and impact learning (not their fault mind), or kids that have been naughty and kicked out of their other school. Sometimes you'll get a kid moving as a school hasn't worked out.

Canon Slade is massively over subscribed with 780 kids wanting 300 places, 50 have remained on the list (Missed a line above when i typed it out). The other 430 have just gone with where the council allocated (Mostly BSC)

There’s been a sustained drop in the birth rate since 2016, there’s capacity

Kids get school places, the waiting list is just kids at another school who’d prefer to go to another one but don’t meet the criteria for whatever reason.

Anyroad, private schools and parents have a choice regarding the 20%. The school can absorb it or the parents can pay it.

Either way, I’ll lose nay sleep over it.  Frankly, fuck em

Not gone far enough for me. I’d have done away with them all.

We should be looking at Finland

Still a u turn

Yes but I am not trying to get the electorate of a nation to vote for me as leader. I just decided to remain an irritant for misguided fools, lefties and poltroons.

As the bloke who won last nights ITV debate hands down said last week when questioned about his late decision to run, "I can change my mind y'know! It is allowed".

Do you honestly believe this will happen after 6 months? Blimey, that would be shit.

if you wanted to edit and replace 'will' by 'could' I would answer in the affirmative.

Nothing brave about it. I’m voting for a candidate that I think will be best for my area. As I said, Reform doesn’t have a chance of getting into power.

No, even with PR. The latter however would give people with genuine concerns more of a voice about issues which the other parties don't want to touch for similar reasons to the police attitude to grooming gangs.

More frightened of receiving a nasty label than righting a clear and obvious wrong.

Pathetic from earth father. You know you've won the argument when that is all they can resort to.

‘On the Giro’ 😊

Only Angela Rayner and a handful of the audience would know what that means. It’s the Yorkshiremen syndrome again!

The likely deputy PM of Bri'ain. "Err, I've forgotten what the question was". FFS.

As far as I can see the threat to labour isn't from the Tories or Reform/Brexit Party/UKIP more from disenfranchised lefties voting Green or Lib Dem.

A certain percentage of the vote share will be lost to independents

So the list you put up is not very accurate as kids can be counted twice or even 3 times if they are on more than one list ?

Schools you say can manipulate the list be reducing capacity so they do not get sent students they do not want. You mention an example of this.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/education/london-school-closures-falling-pupil-numbers-families-councils-b1135224.html# Meanwhile in London which we hear is Londistan these days due to the constant inflow of immigrants there are schools closing due to low student numbers.

Let's be honest. Something is not adding up here.

No one is saying close private schools, but we can not afford at the moment to give them a tax break. A report here details the cost. https://www.sjp.co.uk/individuals/news/how-much-does-private-education-cost#:~:text=The cost of private education,in 2022%2C according to Schoolfeeschecker.&text=The average cost per child is now £6%2C944 a,12%2C344 a term for boarders.&text=There are big regional variations too.

It is pretty telling if you read the section 'is it worth sending' it is about more than the education. If people are making the choice because of the lower class sizes and facilities whilst kids in state schools are surrounding by crumbling concrete there seems something wrong. I posted a link previously where 73 schools in the country have their own equestrian centre ! Should that be exempt from VAT ? The figure of 7% of kids going to private school has been bandied about. Those kids have access to more swimming pools in their schools than the other 93% combined , but they need a tax break ? If your original list can be used at any level it might imply more places are needed at schools in Bolton already.

If people want send their kids to private school for the privilege and benefits they think it brings , good luck to them but still no idea why they think they are entitled to tax break ? Nearest fee paying school to us in Woodhouse Grove, charging about £5k per term, sit outside there in an evening (always roadworks on the road that goes past) and see the Porsches and Land Rovers pulling out of they are struggling to pay their fees sure they can cut back in other areas.

I said yesterday I am still 100% bought into the Labour victory, most recent polls show their share dropping, with Reform and Libs growing. There has been some noise that Reform are still classed as 'other' in polling so an extra question away which could affect the numbers.
Normal behaviour I think in an election is people are swayed during the campaign but come the big day vote for their 'usual' party. I do think this time people are fed up and on the day might either go 'fuck it I will give the others a go' or 'fuck it can not be arsed it is so one sided'

Worth noting if Bolton are 2 up going into injury time I am still nervous

Mourdant has lost it

I think those who thought she might be good enough to be the next Tory leader may now be reveiwing that opinion. She was awful last night.

Farage certainly "won" the debate, and to be fair, the Scotcher did well also I think.

Please don’t, it’s bad enough the human bollard being PM but save me from the Ginger Minger. I’m a proud Manc myself but every time she opens her gob I feel ashamed to think I might sound anything like that. I suppose at least it’s a signal to other thickies with no qualifications just how far you can go in life?
