It's a bottomless pit. The whole system just hemorrhages money from top to bottom. According to Wes Streeting, they’re pausing the building of new hospitals so that money (10 billion) can be spent on overseas climate change which will then prevent people being washed up on our shores. That isn’t the story though is it? The issue is that money for some hospital building projects was going to run out in March due to poor planning by the last government. It is sensible to pause and review those projects so that we don’t end up with half built hospitals. The stuff about overseas funding is just a journalist throwing in a petty attack on an irrelevant subject. Desperate stuff. Quote

Well then, don't go giving ridiculous wage rises to all sorts of people, if they're not affordable. Each government picks its spending and gets judged on it. Quote

Paying doctors and nurses what they should be paid is not ridiculous. That will help keep them in the NHS. What is ridiculous is spending £700 million on a policy that achieved nothing and having to incinerate £1.5 billion worth of good PPE because the government procurement was corrupt under the Tories. Each government picks its spending and gets judged on it. indeed, and they'll always get criticized for it as well, no matter who it is and what they've spent it on. For what it's worth, if I was the Labour Party, then I'd be hammering the taxes now to claw back some money - they're at the start of a 5 year term, so they may as well do all the hard yards now in the first couple of years, and then go on the charm offensive for the final 3 years or so. The majority of the voting public are absolutely thick as fuck, and won't even remember what's happening today in 5 years time. As a sitting Government, you can do what you want in the first two years, as long as you're pointing in the right direction and being seen to help people in the final 2 or 3 years Quote

You think they are going to stop? Do you think there's any chance that other unions might think "Well if they are getting that much! We have them where we want them so lets go for it"? I have seen this all before under the reds and on more than one occasion. I predicted Q1 next year when the shit would hit the fan. I may have been giving them too long a honeymoon. I wonder if yet another Labour inspired Winter Of Discontent is on the cards. I wouldn't bet against it. Quote
Site Supporter Popular Post Winchester White Posted September 13, 2024 Site Supporter Popular Post Posted September 13, 2024 (edited) We need a functioning health care system and folk like @bolty58 want to smash unions rather than pay folk what they deserve. Never mind loads are fucking off to his country where they get paid more of course. Edited September 13, 2024 by Winchester White Typo Quote
