As the title

I need to book flights but before I get my new passport.

I seem to remember having to enter passport numbers but can't remember if that's when you book or when you check in.

Anyone else done this

I didn't say you had to do it, just that you could  :blum:

just realised, they were thomas cook flights and as far as i can see theres no online check in

Do the children have to be interviewed now?

Genuine question- my mum had to go for one. Seventy year old and never left these shores before her cruise.

I know security is important, but she couldn't even carry a rucksack.

No they don't, but you can't do same day appointments on children

Can she wear a belt or vest?

I didn't think a flight to Dublin required a passport provided you have photographic ID. A drivers licence, for example.

You have to go through passport control when you land in Dublin so you do need one (will be a fucker post-Brexit as the non-EU queues are fucking huge especially if a Yank flight has landed) but I don't recall ever having to show it when landing back in Manc and I certainly didn't have to show it either way when I took the ferry from Holyhead

Belfast flights have always been fine with a driving licence

It seems RoI as well.

Officially, citizens of the UK or Ireland don't need a passport to enter Ireland from the UK, but all other nationalities do. But you need some form of ID to prove you are an Irish or British citizen, and the only form of ID generally accepted are a drivers license or a passport

Micky d is right, you don't need a passport to enter Ireland as a British citizen and vice versa, never have done.

You may need a passport to get on the plane though, that depends on what the airline accepts as appropriate photo ID, but, you can get in and out of Ireland without a passport with no issue.

OK. Fair enough. Our Dublin office told us to always carry a passport to come in via the airport so I always have done and have always gone through passport control

I'm there on Wednesday so I'll see what happens using my driving licence...........with my passport in my back pocket!!!!

The airlines may not accept a drivers licence as proof of ID, I know Ryan air only accept a passport, but that's for their own policy and not any requirement to get in and out as such. Before the " current" security upgrades, and from around the late 80' s , I used to fly in and out regular and had no passport, even with all the shite that was going on in those days. Some flights I only had the tickets for the plane and a bag, amazing to think that now.
