jules_darby
Couldn’t stand the man, hope never to see him at our gaff again even in the opposition dugout. 2 games stand out for me - Lisbon away and Wolves away. He lost the club with that selection at Lisbon but never really had it anyway. Yes we had some good results but it was largely a squad assembled by BSA which got them What about Wigan away after Lisbon. 1-0 and they had 10 men for The majority of the game. One of the most spineless performances I can remember. He completely misread that whole situation with the players and it was horrific man management It's all our fault though. Traf
Only because there will be three teams shitter than they are. Show me a season where that hasn't been the case for a team finishing 4th bottom. Dress it up how you like, if he keeps them up, he's done well. What about Wigan away after Lisbon. 1-0 and they had 10 men for The majority of the game. One of the most spineless performances I can remember. He completely misread that whole situation with the players and it was horrific man management It's all our fault though. Cunt Gartside (rest his soul) carries the can for the team selections for those games and the senior pros left behind for the Lisbon trip let themselves, the club, the manager and the fans down at Wigan by sulking and not putting a shift in. Traf
none less than sir kevin his performance that day was one of the most disgraceful exhibitions of petulance i've ever seen Leading by example? That team put out against Wigan should have won easily. Disappointed about missing a Euro-jolly? Be a professional an get over it, life's full of disappointments. Much is made of Megson's role in that week's fiascos, but the part played by the chairman & players shouldn't be underestimated.

Not bad calls if he did. He also signed some shit, but show me a Bolton manager who hasn't.
Moderators Casino Posted November 21, 2017 Moderators Share Posted November 21, 2017 this is the team he inherited from lee the one allardyce handed over to him, apparently Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Joey O'Brien (Giannakopoulos 85), Andrew O'Brien, Meite, Gardner, Campo, Davies, Guthrie, McCann, Diouf (Wilhelmsson 66), Anelka.Subs Not Used: Al Habsi, Cid, Braaten. i make that half a team - and he soon had to sell the best player in it for balance, i see nolan is missing anyway, its all fcuking irrelevant and nobody is going to admit they were wrong about megson
Walkden White
A lot of history re-written about Megson mainly by the man himself to justify himself. To say he got stick right from the start is in my opinion completely untrue. It is true he wasn't the appointment people wanted but that's a different matter and the majority of fans, as Bolton fans generally always do, gave him a chance. He seemed to want to create a them and us atmosphere and loved playing the victim. I have never seen a manager have such an effect and it was mainly all his own doing. radcliffe white
Think the only thing megson wanted to create was his own way of doing things All this bad atmosphere imo was created by the likes Nolan and Davies from the dressing room He came into a club where the above players were probably ruling the roost and they didn’t like change And them two leeches McGinlay and Kelly didn’t help matters either stirring it up with the fans

Moderators Casino Posted November 21, 2017 Moderators Share Posted November 21, 2017 from the bbc match report of the game v braga If Megson's appointment was hardly the big-name manager Bolton fans were crying out for ahead of the game, then the on-pitch fare would have done little to raise their spirits either. Megson might also have been wondering quite what he had let himself in for after hearing chants of 'You don't know what you're doing' directed at the board as he took his watching brief before the game. Cunt Horrible horrible game. Unless we have hierro directing play we haven’t a clue how to beat 10 men teams. Koumas was the mon sent off Not sure it was the match were our fans on the top row lobbed the advertisement board down the stand. Fella with chicken hat on played a part Absolute death trap on the concourse of that away stand when it’s full

Traf's point about a lack of professionalism is quite right, but it also suggests Megson didn't understand the characters available to him. We can go on about managers like BSA, but look at our PP now- I'm not his greatest fan in terms of his tactics, but he seems to be able to command the respect of players and build a decent spirit. Rather have him than Megson any day.

Whites man
We were 2-0 at Blackburn when Sam was managing them, Megson and him were stood close to each other on the touchline. Our lot were chanting "Megson, give us a wave" and it looked like at that precise moment the club was moving on from the Allardyce era to a new one. But no, Megson blanked the fans and a few games later "give us a wave" reverted to the more traditional "you're a wanker".
