Wanderers 1-0 Sunderland

Chris Coleman has just described it as the biggest in Sunderland's history.

As shit as they are, they may just be up for it.

It's as must win as games get. For both teams.

Not making excuses for him as he was all over the show tonight, but I said at kick off that their very pale blue top didn’t offer much of a contrast to our white.

Ameobi head and shoulders the best man on the field. Like casino said the other week we are lucky in a a way he was shit in December or he'd have gone in the window.

Whatever our faults, we don't lack anything in desire. Alf and Karacan work well together and Wilbraham won't ever play again.

Onwards and upwards, come on you fuckers.

What the fuck was that mini pitch invasion all about by the way? Haha

bang on,

Only thing on ameobi is that when he’s fucked he’s dangerous as he loses the ball in bad areas

It wasn’t worth a banning order and fine fooking madness

Good 3 points in the end but as usual we made hard work of it. Honourable mentions for Karacan, Alnwick and ALF when he came on.

How ALF doesn't start in front of Clough and Walker is beyond me. If Clough can't compete better than that then ship him back.

I'm willing to give Wilbraham another game or 2 but at the moment he doesn't look like a footballer.

Ameobi looked knackered again in the last part of the game but was s till more effective than some.

Quick look on Mackemways and quite a few of them saying they battered us. You can have all the possession you want for me; Alnwick has only made two saves, one of which in the last minute, so you can fuck off saying you battered us.

had a mooch

they seem like us season before last

must say though, 102 pages for a match thread is impressive (even if it is 20 posts a page rather than 25, and it only started at 7pm)

Aye owners pulled the plug, club for sale. Fans have given up.

One or two of their pisspots in shirts steamed in to some of our kids in goggle coats near hotel after game.

They all seemed very pissed off walking through them all, few booting stuff about.

They're down 100% imo. We were there for the taking and they made about 2 clear chances all game and they were our fuck ups.

Alnwick gets my motm for two very good saves and other good work

Scrappy 1-0 wins will do for me and that was proper scrappy. Wheater and Beevers both looked knackered after 60 mins and Taylor was well off the pace all game.

ALF looks a better bet up front than any of Clough, Walker or Wilbraham. Karacan worked hard but pp should play him further forward. Prefer Derek alongside Henry.

Team and individually very poor tonight, Beevers and Wheater were suprisinngly very poor.

But still we did well to keep a clean sheet.

Karacan without a doubt man of the match, only player who threw himself into tackles.

A great result but hopefully we won’t be putting in poor performances like today again.

Now, let’s frigging go and get some points at Norwich, and end this barren away record!

Don't care about anything other than the result. Phew!

Probably the worst game of football I've seen this season, two  poor sides.

We are punching well above our weight if we stay in this division.

Having said that, not a bad game to watch if you were neutral, some hilarious misses, ref decisions, brilliant saves by both keepers.

Alnwick and Karacan stood out tonight.

As for Wilbraham, might as well play Little Whitt.

He'll entertain the changing room (apparently) but fuck all use on the pitch.

Edit to say Henry did well also, although which of our lot played that silly back pass at the end to their winger, those kits clashed a bit and can only think they thought it was a Bolton player,

Edited by Alf Hartigan

Not sure why we started 3 up front but it was obvious from early on we were a man short in the centre of midfield. Improved no end when Del and ALF came on, gave Morris and Karacan more licence to go about their business.

Couldn’t care less about the performance though, 3 points was all that mattered.

Are we too late for a tilt at the play offs?

Refs at this level are generally poor but that was the most one sided display in a long time and the linesmen might as well not have been there. O'Shea used his arms more than his legs all night and got away with it every time.

The result was all that mattered and we edged it.

Since the Burton game, the home form has been great.

We're the biggest price to avoid relegation that we have been all season.

All the other results have gone for us again.

Cant help thinking that we will have to pick up at least 1 away win as some of our home games are tough.

Anyway, to get here, from where we were in late September is credit to all.

Coming up in East Anglia.

I’ll cut Beevers some slack because although he’s pretty poor with the ball at his feet, his positioning was superb to clear off the line in the first half. Alnwick made a couple of fumbles but generally looked pretty safe and make a couple of top saves. Karacan MOM for me though, worked his nads off and offered a little bit of quality when we needed it. That pretty much kills off Sunderland now I’d have thought.

If Sunderland create chances like last night in more games they may have a glimpse but realistically probably gone

Then 2 teams from reading down imo

Hull, Barnsley and reading have a game in hand

Burton kept the party alive last night

Can see forest being dragged in to it.

Forgot to mention Morais who for me is one fine footballer - great first touch and ball delivery second to none. Produced the one moment of real quality in the match and we need to get him in the side more often.

End of season sometimes you pick up results against teams with little to play for. Leeds away looks like a potential candidate for that.

Go to Burton and Barnsley too. I think 5 wins more than does it. 1 away 4 at home?

the optimistic me is thinking 4 wins and maybe 2 draws is enough

it would mean the bottom 3 or 4 needing to double their current win totals in the last 13/14 games

Wasn't the greatest match. Hats off to Parkinson though for actually changing the team around when we were getting over run. Big win that

At the same time we need to keep our feet on the ground last night was massive but very fortunate

Let’s not underestimate the likes of Preston and especially Millwall who are a couple of wins off play offs,

I think 4 wins will do it

Hull vs Barnsley is the game in hand though, can’t both win.

Last night was massive with the other results too, take anything if possible on Saturday and then the Preston game is as big as last night

all the booers can go fuck them selves. any fool could see we were getting pounded in midfield and we needed extra cover, clough was offering very little so he brings derik on who imo was well worth his substitution.

I was thinking the same, clough was offering fuck all and was getting left in the wake every time their full back went forwards.

Neither Wilbtaham or Clough were closing down their centrebacks making O Shite look like Rudy Kroll .

Good substitutions despite the stupid idiots booing.

Despite looking dead on his feet Ameobi made two great tackles in injury time.

Karacan deserves his place just for being an an annoying rug rat.

Is Henry suspended now must be close to ten yellows.
