Let just get a foreign manager in for once.

Have we ever had a non-British manager?

If we get the resources needed, wed need to be better in possession of the ball, because without a doubt we were one of the worst teams in possession.

I know passing, possession doesn’t mean everything. All I’m saying is it would be nice to change up our play, and be more positive.

Keep him

Hes learning, and I just think there’s a lot to be said for stability. It’s like sacking a sales guy even though he’s hit his targets 2 years running. Mental.

The only reason we should change him is if we want to push for promotion. We’re a long way off that and I think he can improve us, albeit slightly.

Hands up who’s settle for mid table next season, with maybe a cup run?

id settle for that.

Problem I have is I think that’s beyond PP.

The sales guy doesn’t get a big pay off and walk into another job if failing miserably so I’d wager it’s a bit different

I wanted Mick McCarthy when we appointed that duffer from Palace. Think his no nonsense, in your face style suits our profile.

No slight on Parky, he has served us well and, IMO, has had two successful seasons. He will probably keep his job based on that fact alone.

I am convinced that MM would have us upper table within a relatively short time.

I think when we go to the stage of wanting to challenge in the top half of the Championship we'll need to replace Parky. If the Saudis come in and throw big money at it, that might be soon. However realistically next season is going to be about incremental progress. Right now I'd settle for anywhere between 15th and 20th. In those circs its the continuity option. As has been said by many on here, if Ken Anderson is setting Parky objectives for next year then top of the list is to develop a squad and mentality that adapts from Plan A when it's not working. Fine, play with a target man..... but have something different up your sleeve. If we do that we'll pick up more points and be more comfortable

The other thing is if we ARE going to change the manager we need to get on with it. Improving the squad is all summer of a job. It can't start in late June with a new manager because by that stage everybody else has stolen a march - including Blackburn and Wigan who'll be in the same market as us.

The reason we struggled is we had poor players and no money to improve. That doesn’t matter who the manager is.

Staying up was a huge overachievement in itself.

Targets have been achieved by Parky absolutely no argument from anyone however we were very close to not achieving them.

If he hadn't played wilbraham before due to the fans he has to go as he is just as stated above "a happy clappy" coyle type trying to please the fans.

The freezing out of players should matter. the target was achieved, look at coyle and what other condescending shite that is gonna to be spouted aside he has left players out in the dark and randomly thrown them back in. clearly our best side involves Little and Robinson. this side provides crosses into the box. why not play them? it may be that his hands are tied but we don't know different so can only assume him being the reason why.

Playing Le Fondre from the start would have been a master stroke with us whipping crosses in however when he plays alf he doesn't seem to try and get us to cross it

If we get investment he is going to be gone and if we don't he stays.

If he does stay do we accept a similar start to this season or do we make a change?

But all season people have said we were better than at least 3 others (which it was proved we were in the end) so its not an achievement its just what was going to happen.

Watching Parkys football is boring but considering what he’s done over 2 years with no money, he’s earned the right to be given a go at it.

If foreign investment comes in, he might well get potted.

Maybe continuity is the way to go for now, re-asses at the international break in October or November.

Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for

If we gave PP another crack at it I don’t think it would be a terrible idea.

But there is part of me that quite likes the idea of Big Mick at the helm. Certainly he isn’t a revolutionary but for me I think abrasive attitude and simplistic approach would blend well with the club. In a similar mould to BSA.

I’m just not convinced PP quite has control of the dressing room, hence the chopping and changing, players suddenly falling out of favour.

Then again i’ve never been one to worry about the “style” of football played at the Macron.

so on that basis Birmingham should have been competing for play offs having spent shy of 16m? and Millwall should be near bottom having spent 500k

Spot on.

We were better than three others because of the job the manager did. First 11 games we were awful. Mass improvement then fell away.

You cannot say ‘we’ and exclude the manager Lennon in his final season after mjalby left gave up. Parky got us competing. Signing Henry was from nowhere but turned the season.

He has made some strange desicions Burton being the most obvious. Wilbraham was awful when he came on there. A manager is measured by results. Anyone saying get rid where did you hope/think we would finish ?

Next season if we have some money and whoever provides that money wants someone else to spend it that’s their call.

If the forest game had happened 9 games earlier and we had then limped over the line with 7 losses and 1 draw then the outlook would be completely different.

Thing is we had two blocks of results at the start and end that gave us 6 points from 18 games; keep that up for a season and you're relegated with a new record low.

In the middle 28 (well over half a season) we got a return that would have left us in the low 60s across a whole season. Add a win and a couple of draws to that and you're up with the 5 who were clear of half way and looking at playoffs until quite late. And they were teams we should not be afraid to try to emulate: Preston, SheffU, Brentford, Millwall, Bristol. So even though that block of 28 games didn't feel exceptional - some nice wins but some shockers along the way as well - it was a level that means you not only survive but thrive.

So which do you trust PP to replicate?

For me. He would of been a disgrace relegating us. We were miles out of this. We needed 4 points from the final 24. Yes we got them but it was turgid and I don't think many disagree.

I'm as happy as the next about staying up but we won't have 3 teams as bad next season.

I like Phil but it's a good time to cut ties. I've backed managers for far too long as my posts will show over the years but this wont work out well if he stays.

I expected us to stay up with games to spare if I'm honest.

Birmingham with their players should never have been down there. Under Monk they showed improvement. Millwall overachieved for sure. But sometimes it happens. They had 3 players who got 10 each and kept their key players fit. Easily they could be near the bottom next season. See Reading as an example.

The reality is that everyone in this league expected us to go down bottom of the league in the scenario we were in. The reality of our situation doesn't seem to have clicked with our own fans given posts like this.
