As has been said, first half was utter drudgery, would have taken a draw after 20 mins and still woul have at half time.   Somehow found ourselves in dreamland at 2-0 but never secure, both goals co

How come our lot didn’t know about it?

They did. Everyone was in sat in trotters bar with Stanley knives and snooker balls in socks but bob landlord got his intel wrong.

Heard the exact same on good authority massive fuck up on all accounts

Heard off a lad I went to school with who became the GMP custody sergeant at t'Reebok, that Bristol Police actually reported that there WOULD be problems but somehow between Bristol and Greater Manchester Police, they managed to completely cloud the info until it said exactly the opposite of what was actually passed.

Never mind though, these police free games are saving the club a fortune in policing bills.

Heard they got well slapped trying to get in scotts

I can confirm that they didn't.

I can confirm that they didn't.

Eye witness reports suggest otherwise

Th' orange warriors got a good hiding that day too.

Every cloud

I managed to duck a few that were thrown. I was the Kate Adie of eyewitness' that day. JSL

I'm fairly sure Bristol City only had about 800 fans for that game, which to be fair is a decent turnout considering the distance. Anyways Bolton 1-2 Bristol city.

Edit: just checked 1208 fans

I heard a copper and a bouncer stopped em getting in Scotts but would have been carnage if they got in

Similar story to Bradford a couple of seasons ago. Clever pricks did leave it until it was almost empty at 14:55 before the assault though.

Its right

Starting the away game thread already

The copper ended up in Scotts. To the best of his ability the bouncer was at the door trying to keep everyone apart. The bottle neck of the entrance really stopped both sides from getting to each other.

And folk get paid to do this as there job ????

Hells bells

It was the first "Police Free Game" when football intelligence in Bristol reported that there were no expected problems. There just happened to be two or three coach loads of "dad and Lad" supporters groups who just also happened to be two or three coachloads of Yoof and Old Hoolies.

Th' orange warriors got a good hiding that day too.

So intel from Bristol to say don't worry, have a day off.

If  re-call correctly No Balls was involved as back up?

Apparently there is cctv of said incident and some lads were told that the only reason there were no arrests was because it looked like the said lads were helping the copper who shit himself

good effort by said lads, but would still have been carnage if they got inside

It would have been carnage if they had attempted anything like that back in the day in any of the pubs around Bradshawgate or Manchester Rd.

I think they did

Came in 1989 I think. Brought 4000 for promotion party. Think there was about 3/4 stabbings.

Mental day. Fans charging each other up and down manny road.

We won 1-0 greeny if memory serves me right.

Heard funny story from freight rover final against them as well!

Was chatting to some of their lot in london. One said he got his nose broke amd chucked off wembley way. I did chuckle

Burnden was like a 15th century battlefield that day

My fault!! Can you raise a ticket with the mods to amend the title?

That is correct. He started off at the front of the steps in front of me at the top. By the time I got into the pub after they charged the doors, he was behind me minus his helmet. The bouncers stopped it getting any worse.
