I'd imagine the theory is that if gives your body time to restock it's energy rather than rapid burn and feeling the need to "restock" by eating. Quote
gonzo Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Aye without going all scientific with BPMs and shit, like swanny says a rule of thumb is if you can talk (just about) comfortably but you are breathing heavier than normal as well sweating you are burning body fat... When you're above that your body is in panic mode and smashing through your stored glycogen. Obviously once that's depleted your body will attack other stuff.. Why interval training works so well as it flies your heart up to the brink of glycogen levels, then you bring it back down and so on. See so many folk running all out of breath and hating every minute of it, just to lose some body fat. When it's just so much easier to go for a lovely walk up beacon fell or summet. Quote
only1swanny Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Gone for it this week, any constructive criticism welcome as I though I'd try this. I've been going for a "run", tracked a 2.7 mile route to my dad's and back. I've done 4th day today and managed a total of 13 mins running the rest walking. Rest day tomorrow as I want to be able to walk upto the top tier haha 😄 I've also started a new diet as such, realised that by not having breakfast, I can last till 2/3 ish without eating, then I carry on as normal, found that I'm snacking less and fewer cravings, I need to buy some accurate scales as mine vary as you move them around the room. gonzo Posted August 17, 2024 Author Posted August 17, 2024 If you're after losing weight ne sure to track those calories pal. Calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight. Don't just guess, the body is one dirty fucker and tricks your mind. Quote

I've been using the NHS weight loss app. Done it last year, but it went to rat-shit after my seizure. So long as you take time to fill it in, and build up your database (makes it quicker) then it does work. Just got to be honest with it. Based my calorie needs on their calculator (but not accounted for the work)- 2500 per day. Tend to have between 2000 and 2400 per day. Bit light headed occasionally, but don't miss out any given food type- just have less. 3lb in 2 weeks so far. A gentle, manageable loss. Quote

Lad doesn't like it, so we've tended to just stick with white, but sod it, looking after myself a bit more. Like the taste of wheat, spelt and rye far more too, and a better GI. Brown pasta too. Never understand why brown is more expensive though! Quote

About 3 weeks in and currently on 2.5KG weight loss, which isn't too bad, although I can't really say how much of the weight is muscle ( Dragging my fat arse around running will add some), Didn't seem that much until I googled what 2.5kg of fat looked like and that was quite eye opening.. New twist on the running, been running, and I make it as far as i can without stopping, I then do 10 squats and carry on, then repeat, when It feels too much to run anymore, i walk home and repeat the squats every 50m ish legs feel like lead now though! So this morning, was roughly 1.9m run, with 100 squats interspaced 😛 Quote

See people gun losing overall weight, which is fine, but it's really bodyfat people should target. Keto and low carb shit stripps weight off at the start, but all that's a lot of water weight. BF% is as important as your BW. You can be 10 stone but if your body fat is 50% you're fucked Quote
