Climate Change

It's all a bit chaotic down there at the minute, they reckon they're going to be working in shifts, and could be there for at least two weeks the loons.  They do all seem to be having a good time though, and the bloke on the radio earlier said it was a nice atmosphere.......won't be long until some swampy types start kicking off though I'm sure

Climate change does need to be looked at, but I'm not sure that snarling up the capital is going to make much happen

Water cannon the lot of them

Plastic has to be fairly high up on the list of environmental issues as well

It certainly has; though I do have a gripe with the way that it's portrayed as being a big evil.

The main issue is dirty fuckers wazzing the stuff rather than recycling or disposing of it properly.

Couple that with the vast amount of unnecessary tat that is produced for no good reason and a shitstorm awaits.

Stupid toys in McDonald's meals typical. Ban it all. Every bit of it.

I'm not usually one for 'bringing the streets to a standstill'. But if there's one issue that's worth getting yourself arrested for - it's the government's lack of action on climate change. And not just ours - it needs to be tackled worldwide.

The protestors just need to be careful they don't alienate too many people in what they're doing. But by fuck - somebody has to do something. It's literally an existential threat.

Yep.

I've not looked at the vid, but you can bet there are anti someone banners etc.

This shouldn't be politicised, as you say it's beyond one nation etc. We're not always the quickest at this in this country; and I'd like us to lead to world- see it as an opportunity to incorporate the environment within the economy, indeed base the economy around it and look to export technologies etc.

Wouldn't that be an amazing way for this country to be a source of hope in the world....

In fairness we're doing quite well with regard to wind power. An article the other day about Sweden and the approach to recycling within a city. 90% recycling rate.

There needs to be a cultural shift, not just a political one. In the course of my previous and current work it's become clear that a lot of folk pay lipservice to it all whilst berating authorities for some reason or another.

But yes, an economy with the environment at its core- a proper idea.

I agree totally. But we won't get far while it's still considered to be a 'socialist conspiracy' by some.

Science doesn't care what your political beliefs are.

Greed overpowers science.

When you’ve folk like trump running the show you’ve no chance. He’d take the last of the icecaps to put in his bourbon.

Is the sad truth. Wasting all our energy arguing about minutiae while we make the only planet known to harbour life uninhabitable.

There's your answer to the Fermi paradox!

I don’t think that climate change is our biggest environmental issue.

Aye, I'm much more concerned about feral freaks and weirdos superglueing themselves to the doors of building etc.

A blowtorch to remove them would be my first step. Water cannon on standby to cool them down of course.

The thick muppets think this will garner public support do they?

Quite right. It doesn't help that the greens have some very odd policies, and I remember Farage rubbishing the plight of molluscs in the Humber estuary, entirely missing the point that they are a vital component of an ecosystem that has suffered hugely in recent times.

Need some main stream folk to really adopt it properly.

I'd vote Tory tomorrow if they had a decent strategy to address climate change. By far and away the most pressing issue facing the country and the world in 2019. Scandalous that it isn't higher on the agenda. Not sure extinction rebellion's approach is necessarily the best but at least they're doing something to put it front and centre.
