For those that questioned why I didn’t attend the game last Saturday, this was why. My daughter asked me to go to the Pride parade with her, have a few drinks, a meal, and generally have a catch up on her life and her website project. She doesn’t live with me so I don’t see her that often so face to face time is very valuable

I’ve highlighted one particular part of her social media post from today. That is a nod to WWays. She was stunned by the response from here. I thank all of you that contributed feedback once again for your support.......

 

 

As some of you may remember, a year ago I set up a website that allows people to submit and share their personal stories regarding mental health, encouraging people to use their voice and realise that they're not going through this alone.

The response I received was absolutely insane. That insane in fact, that I shut it down after a few months as I couldn't cope with managing the website alongside my own mental health.

But now I'm back 💥 I'm in a better place with my mental health, I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first home, and next week I start my dream job as a Teaching Assistant in a special educational needs school.

So I've decided to relaunch my project. A website where you can anonymously submit your mental health story, in the form of poetry, short stories, song lyrics, or simply anything that expresses you.

Finally got to lay my dad to rest yesterday almost 6 weeks after he passed away.....It is a relief, feels like a weight has been lifted...many tales told ,many pints with rum chasers sunk, a good celebration of his life with the family.

Got a call yesterday to tell me a mate of mine ended his own life. 

Great lad, life and soul of any room he was in and every other cliche. I'd not seen him for a few months but knew he was going through a tough time and had all intentions to give him a shout and see him for the last few weeks, but as with everyone, life got in the way and never got round to it. Not sure it would have made much difference as he was with a few mates on Monday night, all had a laugh apparently, went home then he did that 😢

Anyway, not attention seeking...... just thought I'd put a reminder out to people to speak out. I suppose there were signs (easy to think that after the event) but knowing him, I'm absolutely sure he was bottling stuff up for ages and it must have just come to the point he thought that was the only option. 

Talk to your friends/family if your struggling chaps!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Boogs, absolutely awful.

There was well known DJ lad from Bolton did the same last week. Few lads on here will know him and his circle of friends.

So tragic

So sad.

Presumably he has family etc that are bereft.

Maybe have a chat with them when the time is right?

Sorry to hear that pal. Someone off here contacted me when I was on the edge. Never met him but spoken loads in posts during the years. Really helped. Said it before but please DM me if you need to talk to someone you don’t know. Actually, that sounds a bit creepy 😂

Guessing that’s the same lad my brother was telling me about the other day. His son’s mate - my nephew, CB the Massive . He was the first friend that CB made at primary school. He was a lovely bloke. Heartbreaking 💔

Didn't know that. He was a massive as well though, so must be able to sniff each other out at a young age.

It's a strange feeling, I know plenty of people that knew him a lot better than I did, so felt a weird sort of guilt that I got so upset about it.

I gave C a big hug last week and asked him if he was alright as he hasn't been having it easy of late either. 

**don't get me wrong, I'm in no way suggesting that he is at the point of what we're talking about here.

Our kid is rapidly going down the pan. Absolutely broken

2 years to the day he fell off a ledge while we were working and he's still nowhere near recovered. Was told yesterday he needs another operation and probably one after that too.

The next will be his 11th operation. 8 on one leg and 3 on the other.

Metal rods, pins, plates, 2 bone grafts, external frames and one big horrible skin transplant.

He had to make the decision to retire from our job last week as he will never in his wildest dreams be fit enough. I'm currently in the process of buying him out. He loved his job more than anything. We spent 12 years building it from just a poxy little run of houses to something...well a lot bigger than that.

He's normally the most positive man on the planet. Used to do my head in on a Monday morning whistling and shouting stuff

But it's horrible to see such a normally positive guy on the deck.

His latest issue is ulcers eating away at his skin transplant. Back to ward 4 on the burns unit in Preston where he spent Christmas last year.

Grim as fuck.

What a cruel twist of fate that day was. One slip, split second and bosh life is over as you know it forever.

And yep it couldve been worse. 

 

Remember when it happened, and it looked bad then but just assumed probably like everyone that he’d be back up and at it after a few months.

To read that he’s had to pack up and is still nowhere near fixed is devastating.

Remember being in the ambulance with him screaming in agony with bone sticking out of his leg.

I'd rang my other brother to get down here who was at work only round the corner.

He came bursting in and took one look and said...

Away from the physical and mental damage for a moment- did he/you have personal/critical injury cover?

Just wondering if financially he'll be OK going forward.

Being silly billys and typical carefree young men we never got round to getting proper cover for ourselves.

He had a small policy to cover a wage which runs out in Jan. Obviously he will still be employable in an other sector so his life insurance doesn't cover that.

We have public liability worth £5m but it doesn't cover us as directors.

Plus there's no insurance in the land which would cover using ladders the way we do 😕

He's gonna have to find work but God knows in what field.

He's on PIP at the min. He's not entitled to housing benefit as he owns his own house. How fucked up is that.

Awful for him mate. We all love a moan about work, but can't imagine being told you can't do a job you enjoy anymore. 

How's his physio going? Is he able to keep active at all? 

Hope he finds a path that works for him.

I remember reading books when I was young and the phrase ‘and then one day’ cropped up a lot. It usually led to a significant change to the storyline. It’s the same in life. One day, one hour in fact one second can change our life completely. It could happen to any of us at any time.

Sad to hear pal. Remember reading about it when it first happened, an horrific accident which as you say could have been even worse.

Hopefully a new chapter in life opens for him soon. Good that he has family and friends around him.

My brothers murderer has been sentenced today, 

He's successfully pleaded the "diminished responsibility" route, oddly his name has been kept out of the papers too.
