Didnt bother me at first but fuck me I’m getting beyond fed up. Being out and about is something we should never take for granted. Seems so simple but it doesn’t half keep you balanced, just moving about, not confined. For anyone who’s struggling, get outdoors. Move your legs. Basic but so effective. If you can’t get fixed at local hospital try other hospitals in other areas, you can have your op anywhere, I had my hip done in Birmingham by one of the best hip surgeons in the world. Quote

Mother in law in 76, has MS and is still grieving over losing her husband at the start of February. He was her full-time carer too and we now think she's in early stages of dementia. Anyway, work is busy right now, but we seem to be spending half of our time driving to/from Trafford to help out with her care, take her to dentist/doctors/opticians/hospital appointments etc. Quote

There has been a lot of progress over the years in ways of treatment but there’s still a long way to go. Quote

I have had my knee 'done' recently, @Spider you need to push your GP to send you for X rays for referral and then push for the referral to happen, once you are with Specialists it all starts to move quicker. I was offered NHS or Private via NHS, no idea why anyone would take first option due to waiting times. I needed a full replacement and even private was a six month wait, but people ahead of you will need to have bloods and other bits checked, a few drop out and cancellations come up. I was 6 weeks in the end. You just need to keep pushing it. Ironically this helps as well as it feels like you are taking control which imo always helps mentally. Quote

I’ve ended up with a private referral so things are starting to get sorted, the NHS is - ironically - on its knees. The people are clearly frazzled and the system is too slow and confused. being in constant pain, and it is endless, does affect you mentally. Combined with not getting out like I normally do and I can see why people get really depressed. Fortunately, Im able to keep busy and despite appearances I’m generally of an optimistic disposition so keeping any demons at bay, for now. Quote

I guess I'm lucky as I come under Wigan anyway but they specialise in joints and arthritis. Once you get through the door there the care is unreal. As has been said you can request to go wherever you like . After various cartilage ops clean outs etc I was told I needed a "new" knee. I was in agony bone on bone .I asked for a 2nd opinion and was offered a tibial osteotomy. 7 years on from that and almost pain free and importantly still on my own knees Quote

Wouldn't want to drive with any impairment- even if it's only slight (and legal) Quote

Apart from drink driving he is a proper sound bloke. He lives half a mile from the boozer . He won't be told. Quote

How'd you do it? sounds serious if you're still not weight bearing on it. Hope you get a scan sorted and surgery soon. If you can afford any of it private to help speed it up then it's worth it. As these things are best not delayed for yonks. The state of the NHS is some areas is depressing. These things only lead to more serious health issues if not treated and it's crap for the folk that have no alternative other than a huge waiting list. Did my ACL years ago before things were too bad. Got it scanned and surgery done fairly quickly. Rehab took a long time (3 years) but physio's are magicians and I'm back playing 5s midweek and 11s on a Sunday now. Keeping the leg muscles strong will work wonders for you. When I was on crutches I found some excellent workouts on youtube for the core and upper body that were specifically designed for folk who can't weight bear on one leg. Helped keep me sane, especially if you can get out and do it in the garden. You'll look a tit but it's worth it Quote

He's had a few of em but this symptoms seemed a lot worse. I basically had to pester him to go to docs. He went yesterday morning and was sent straight to The Vic. He was there in A&E from 11am till half 9 last night. I was there with him from tea time. It was like fucking Beirut. Ambulances stacked up outside basically being used as holding pens. Wankers kicking off all over the gaff and poor nurses at their wits end. My old man was after leaving but luckily I made him stay. They let him go after a CT scan but today he had to go the TIA clinic where the consultant has gone bonkers that they didn't keep him in and put him on a ward... There was nowhere to put him. Some lass we were talking to had been waiting for a bed for 30 hours 😳 Absolute carnage and only on a Monday. Place was littered with folk who had fuck all wrong with em. Quote
