Hang on.

This was put to the chancellor at the budget. His explanation was that we have access to NHS etc which other nations may do differently. The point being some things are free and therefore don't need covering in ssp.

Now I don't know how a lot of other places operate, so took his comments on face value.

Now if you know differently fair enough, but it seems a little disingenuous otherwise.

Wasn’t presenting the rights and wrongs of SSP amounts...merely that people’s awareness and expectation will be completely different now.

You had Matt Hancock for example on QT last night admitting that he couldn’t live on SSP and that it wasn’t enough...

Its going to change everything.

it's as scary as it is impressively symmetrical

As sick as it sounds, I wish people would stop concentrating on the death-rate. It's fucking horrible, but 'deaths' aren't the reason the NHS is going to be absolutely overloaded for the foreseeable future. Deaths aren't the reason the pubs have been shut.

So we should avoid announcing the number of deaths being released?

The pubs are being shut to reduce the number of deaths & infections.

Chill out cheese 👍

Am I misreading it or can someone in a 4 person family have 8 weeks off on 80% of their wage if they want to play it that way?

Went to a pub called The Windsor on Leith Walk which was just around the corner from our hotel. Great stout.

Some cracking boozers on Leith walk and Leith in general. Be a while before I frequent one again I suspect sadly

I was in Westhoughton earlier. It was eerily quiet apart from Wetherspoons which was booming

I’m still confused

if someone needs time off to look after kids they will get 80% of their wage

My understanding albeit I haven’t read anything about it is the wage guarantee is for businesses where they can’t open or were going to lay staff off due to lack of trade/income. Not just because someone is off sick or has taken time off to look after someone? Two different things surely? Maybe I’m thinking about it the wrong way

This isn't an argument, but, deaths are the reason for everything

We must do what we can to avoid them

Hopefully talking about the numbers will help hammer home the severity of the situation

I find myself doing more each day to help and make sure everyone i know is ok, and those that i don't

Stats like that are my driving force

I interpret it as, say they need to lay off or reduce staffs hours by half for example, the government will pay 80% of the wages even if the money isn’t coming in the door.

Cant see it going beyond 3 months like
