I had a driver at our place on friday

Things may have moved on, but at that stage, his employer were telling him to take unpaid keave

He has COPD

I advised he point out that furloughing was supposed to protect those affected by the virus and they ought to furlough him

Or, he rings in sick

I think it’s just a case of applying

common sense and your employer also not being a cunt and valuing you and treating you appropriately.

some employers as we know don’t give a fuck

Well, technically, you dont apply - in reality, i accept that will be the case, for at risk groups

The employer looks to make a change to your terms and conds

I accepted the variation

Reading between the lines, his employer are busy and they want him in

Indeed. Motorworld treating staff like shit.

Senior management sending messages saying sales targets not being met (hardly shop staff's fault under normal circumstances).

No PPE, shops still open with no proper distancing measures, a d generally making life miserable for staff.

This from a shop worker a few days ago. May have been changed since but I doubt it.

Poor sod isolating herself when at home in case she's contracted it whilst at work.

Then back to work.

Yes original figures hospital deaths only

These figures include all deaths connected to cv

The official tweet says 381 deaths in hospital since the last update. I don't think it's clear what accounts for the other 12.

How we're reporting deaths is so different from everyone else, that the daily comparisons are pointless. There was a suggestion in yesterday's briefing that the lag in the data could be anything up to two weeks.

If its a death at home, i dont see any way there wont be a lag

You cant put CV on a death cert without a positive test or a post mortem

And testing death folk is surely not a priority

Every Monday looks good then Tuesday is awful. Something up there...has to be issues with reporting.

I think that's a bit of a red herring, as Vallance said yesterday that those deaths won't be significant in number even when the data is collected. Probably as you say, because they won't be tested as a rule.

The huge increase today is all from hospitals, and even the government's chart from yesterday made mention of our figures not being up to date. It might be that no-ones are, but it makes the short-term tallying up between countries redundant.

A death is a death, wherever that maybe. The UK already has around 7k deaths per day on average, and some of the CV deaths would have been included in those figures, especially the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, which we already know, if CV has contributed to their deaths it would be interesting to know how many would have died anyway through contracting any virus including influenza?

I posted a link from ONS and an article from the Spectator, which was deemed disgusting by one of our forum experts

No mate.....cup replays will now be played on a Wednesday afternoon like the good old days

Southampton at home in the FA Cup. Anyone on here wagged it from school?  Not me. We were all on notice, caning from Paddy Roberts.

Could live with that

It's my birthday, so shouldn't be a problem getting people out for it

I was too young mate. Leigh White definitely went, probably moaning about the miners 😉

We're literally trialling full face SCUBA diving masks as an option at work for patient's on CPAP (CPAP is like a noninvasive ventilation you can wear while you're conscious).

I think it's a great idea if it works - just seems a comical idea.

I don't think it's disgusting, but it does seem like being a contrarian for the sake of it to ignore the masses of virologists, scientists etc. all saying different. What is it about the bloke writing in the Spectator's credentials that makes you believe his point of view, other than that it re-inforces a belief you already had?

The consensus from the modelling seems to be pretty clear that doing nothing = NHS swamped = people dying left, right and centre from things they shouldn't have. Something which doesn't happen to anything like this extent with the flu.

Do you have to bring your own flippers?

I thought it was around 1200 deaths a day on average. 7k seems a big figure.
