Going to be fun and games if they come into Bolton for a pint and all sign in with the same surname.

Majority of Blackburn folk are teetotal

Serious question

Why the fuck compare our stats with other countries? Why?

Its patently obvious that every single country measures in a different way. There is no international standard being adhered to. Absolutely pointless comparison

Whether we have a flawed system or not surely we should focus on our numbers alone? It’s the trend we should be looking at in our own country. Fuck everyone else. Let them crack on. If our number goes up we need to worry. If it goes down let’s consider what to do. So long as we maintain consistency in our own reporting then we can make our own judgements

Yep.

Loads of reasons for what's happened here, and they will come out in the wash eventually.

Purely drawing comparisons could be counterproductive.

We are probably measuring very accurately, us and some US states, Australia, probably Germany and S Korea too.

Have to look at others to see what methods work best, so that we have collective learning.

I don't have an issue with our reporting, we are the best bean counters in the world, just slow at innovation and decision making along with the US, it's a side effect of having detailed and democratic policy making procedures

What a few have been saying for a while Mate but often drowned out by the usual suspects fixated on a blame culture.

Example - how long will it take before they tell us if we have to wear masks in shops or not?

What is it that takes the govmt several days to make a statement, they aren't waiting on some results before they tell us, it's because of the processes they have in place IMO.

Same drill as everything else. Leak it to the press a couple of days beforehand to test the water. If it’s happening then just crack on.

Was in the shop this morning before I headed out to a meeting. Mask was on as thems the rules So uncomfortable wouldn’t want to wear one for long at all.

I think its because they've got to make sure everyone is on point, make sure the legislation is robust, make sure it's presented in a way that doesn't reduce popularity, make sure it doesn't piss off X industry or X lobby group. Whereas in China, the other extreme it's "you're fucking wearing masks everywhere tomorrow, or your uncle gets kneecapped"

Exactly!!! If a country’s rate is falling. How? Why? What can we learn? What do we need to do?

Then you’ve got those who go on Twitter to find stuff to post on here to try to politicise it. How have the above countries been measuring? How does it compare to the UK? Why are the 17 other countries at zero? What’s their reporting policy? Nah. Forget I asked. Copy and Paste attention seekers don’t do detail

Been in London today for the staff rep meeting, no one has a mask on public transport. There is no way to police it so no one is doing it.

Would there be many complaining about having to wear masks in shops and such other than the tin foil lot? I don't get the non action here if it makes people less at risk of catching and spreading.

Masks to be compulsory in shops in England from 24th July.
