Cheers for this fella, the Vet wrote me a list of stuff down, very good of her, he was 15kg pre-op today, his weight for his breed (Beddlington terrier) is 7-7 to  8-5kg, he's 7 years old and been up most peaks in the lakes and Dale's up to 5 years old, then he got lazy and obviously a build up of treats over the years has made him a fat boy.

Just shown my missus this.

I won’t tell you what she said.

But a diet is a must mate

TMGJ - I come the dogs food because he is a fussy little bastard.

But, the family tell me his breath could melt bank vaults (I have no sense of smell thank fuck). What do you recommend? We try and brush his teeth but frankly it is a waste of time and you risk losing a digit every time.

Fucking hell mate what are his treats, custard buns with a schooner of red bull to wash it down?

My dog has always been my best pal.

I must admit I cannot cry at family funerals but when it comes to that final visit to the vet...

If my Mrs left me I’d be gutted, if the dog went I’d be suicidal

My dogs have always liked carrots and apple as treats, my current MT comes running into the kitchen when he hears  me chopping the veg... he was nicking broccoli off me tonight. A bit of dried liver is good to keep in the pocket when walking out.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing so keep him active. My opinion is to avoid feeding human food as it appears to shorten their lives.

Same with pugs, why would you want some something that struggles to breath

Owd woman near me has one it sounds like a pig grunting, wears this harness and its bursting out, it looks like a string of sausages.

Poor cunt needs putting out of its misery

Dont mate, I'm feeling proper guilty, at weekend I make him bacon & eggs. Im a feeder, but no more, hes going dog keto

Got to be done. Sounds obvious but you’re killing him with love.

No treats - and I mean not a scrap - and his one portion of food a day. Plenty walking.

feels like you’re doing the right thing but you’re not.

He’ll sulk but the bond is unconditional. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Dentastix are advertised as being good for their teeth.

Thats like saying humans should use bourbon as mouthwash. Yes, swilling it round your gob will shift a bit of loose food, but it’s not exactly good for you.

Rawhide will do the job just as well.

just checked the ingredient list on the biscuit treats...various sugars

how vague is that?

at 9pm every evening various gravy bones or biscuits get placed around the lounge while she watches , then gets to scoff them up

it means no more mithering ,it is sleep time

It’s mainly sugar and fat.

Which dogs digest badly

There used to be a song on a GTA about a man leaving his wife to tour the world with his dog on country fm I think
