A question about not eating meat

It's quite a positive thing if we in  the west are eating less meat as the east are consuming more than ever.

Ultimately as a planet if we eat less of it, we rear less, less methane, less animal feed that needs to be produced, lower carbon footprint etc

That said, much as it's the right thing to do,  I couldn't be giving up bacon, ham or pre match pies.

No meat in them pal

Agree with Youri there- why chuck it, give it away ffs.

Anyway, lab meat is a no no for me. Not eating as much meat anymore, particularly beef.

Maybe some people are preferring supermarket deliveries as opposed to going out to a shop.

If meat consumption is dropping, then it ties in well with the new environmental payments for farmers. Sustainably managed land with more wildlife corridors, perhaps with a greater degree of diversification. Maybe woodland and or biomass production too for an energy production mix.

Rudy- which farm shop is it by the way?

Cheshire farm

See, lads, told you he'd gone soft.

Give up the ale, now the meat. Your hoodie mates will kick you out of the gang if you carry up.

G says you're a teetotal vegan nonce.

I will never go complete vegan but I think I'm l almost totally veggie and no one would ever seriously call me a nonce for it.

I will eat meat as long as I know where it has come from and the life it has lived and I will never be able to give up the ale.

My favourite meal must be a pasta seafood salad or pan fried very freshly caught fish with roasted vegetables although I will sometimes indulge in a roast dinner. Not eaten sausage or steak for a very long time and feel better for it, also I snack on fresh fruit rather than biscuits etc.

Nothing macho about insisting on eating meat then dying from bowel cancer shitting yourself involuntarily and being cleaned by underpaid carers while talking gaga

for what it's worth, it wasn't the descent into veganism that made me call him a nonce.

Agreed, but we rely too much on meat as a protein source and eating it every meal. I learned by a health scare and since then learned to cook properly with fresh ingredients and feel better for it.

In my opinion butchers and farm shops still have a role but industrialised tesco meat should not have a future, animals (and us) deserve better

Don't mind vegan and vegetarian dishes

Wouldn't make a proactive effort but don't sneer at the idea

One of the best curries I've had was a veg one in India, chosen because it was at some hovel in the middle of nowhere and there was no way I was trying the meat options

Pan fried sea bass with roasted fennel & Butternut squash

Or a proper sushi quality tuna steak seared in a griddle with some rapeseed oil for 2 mins maximum each side

All sounds great and I eat loads of fish anyway. Though I sear tuna with a splash of soy.

But sometimes, nothing beats a lump of rare cow.

Okay you win on that one, as long as it is a proper steak from a butcher and not one of those wet pre-packed things from the Co-op or wherever
