I hope there's some effort in UK media to try and calm this WWIII talk, its not required and is scaremongering of the highest order. But you see the Mirror tweeting a map of the blast radius of a Russian nuke on London (specific type and yield not disclosed, of course) and think maybe not.

This is not the start of WW3. It is the start of a belligerent act of aggression against Ukraine that will lead to many people suffering.

 

In terms of hardware/materiel in use if that's your bag Rob Lee has been excellent on this for months and has started a new thread covering the invasion

Rees Mogg can threaten Putin with flintlocks and horseback cavalry charges. He is able to set up trade borders in any body of water around the UK and Truss can withdraw pork support.

Johnson is currently having his tie loosely fastened and his hair fluffed up by his child bride, and he’ll be late for the cobra meeting.

Putin - who is rather mental - is an old school Soviet. 

The break up of the USSR still haunts a lot of like minded Russians.

He believes that countries such as Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia (and others) still belong to a larger Russian (Soviet) nation.

These countries do still have natives who think the same way. He's using their presence to say "Hey, they say they're Russian, I should protect them" as a pretext to go in and help them.

The bottom line (IMO) is that he just wants to be seen as a great Russian leader, one who brought the USSR back together in some way.

He's dangerous.
