Youri McAnespie
Some films they're all about when you first watched them... Stand By Me is one of them. Best watched as a kid a few years younger than the main protagonists and not too long after it was released.

Well actually I take that back, I've watched Clueless more times than Stand By Me, it's actually a great film, famously loosely based on Emma by Jane Austen. It actually got my eldest to read that book, so fuck it yeah, Clueless is a better film. Great reply 👍 my daughter loves the film, didn't know about the book. Get her to read it, just a timeless story really, forget when it's set and she'll probably get over her moaning that it's an 'old' book! Members Rudy
I googled clueless thinking it would be an old film about growing up and not the spoilt brat film. Nope. TO THE DOGS

TO THE DOGS You have quite a narrow popular choice blind spot. Emma, the novel, is about a 'Spoilt brat' but one who does grow up. Its a fantastic book. Mind you, you do seem to put stuff like Terminator 2 into a.thread about classic films. Iconic, possibly, classic it is not.

Site Supporter Spider Posted April 4, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted April 4, 2021 All Brontë novels are over rated cat piss. The only reason they still get any attention is so people who got a 2:1 degree at Milton Keynes polytechnic can attempt to make themselves look literary and half-educated. Andy McNab is where it’s at.
Underpants
Is Home Alone a classic? 31 years old and I watched it for the first time just recently. I will never watch it again.

Fucking brilliant, must have read it a dozen times - even wooed my Mrs with it by reading it to her whilst we were courting... The old romantic that I am. I’ll throw all period dramas in with musicals and file them under wank and never to be watched
