If you get it this weekend, that's your Christmas and New Year fucked. It'll also lead to more people not testing daily, that's for sure. Maybe the manky 30 odd percent totally unvacced in london should be treated to a lockdown 17 London boroughs the highest in the country in the unvacced league table Quote

Delta level at the moment in the country which I was surprised at, assumed it would be going up slightly. It is already the less common one in London. Booster working very well against Delta too. As omicron increases, delta is going to drop off. Whitty's comments about the way omicron has been looked at initially in terms of severity were particularly interesting and food for thought. Which makes boosters all the more useful and a no brainer. I'm going with the clown as that's what I want to hear but its clear the scientists are being ignored I dont care but its fair I point it out Quote

If science was being ignored, there'd be no plan b, nor a big push on vaccines. Even whitty acknowledged its not all about locking down, as it has its drawbacks. As for further restrictions, they might happen, but I'm happy that at the moment the vaccination set up and people's own caution will mitigate the spread. A balance between slowing it down so services can cope, but not doing an Australia and being stuck. Quote

If it’s as transmissible as it seems, there’s not that can be done to stop it/slow it down. the booster seems to ramp up our immunity (good piece on BBC) Fingers crossed Quote
Spider Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 It’s all about the vaccine. I would aim any and all restrictions at those unwilling to get it done. The vaccine is the only thing that keeps us functioning anything like normal. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Well if everyone gets it like I've got it, its like a bad head cold with extra sleeping thrown in. Early night again and hopefully feel even better tomorrow. Certainly not effected breathing and cough has almost gone. No change to taste or smell. Quote

I think it makes sense, can't stop it completely, but important to manage it. And IF, it turns out to be less harmful, then it becoming the dominant strain is certainly a lesser of two evils. I do think it will be a bit less harmful, but if this 29% reduction is confirmed it's not yet a mild illness, and we may be revisiting thos situation again at some point in the future. Quote

Not in Crawley Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Top tips. I've only eaten from Just Eat scutter food. In bed. It's been a delight, and possibly a cure. Same way that pot noddle kills off diarrhoea. Quote

They didn't appear that way for me; purely from a virus point of view maybe, but whitty stated there is more to it. Quote

Not in Crawley Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 People do realise it takes time for the booster to work, don't they? I fear there's loads out there who'll get it and immediately think they are sorted. I'm betting there are going to be thousands isolating during Christmas. Quote

I got the earlier model and it was the sickest I have ever been and there were knock on blood effects, i'm hoping that this new one is less nasty although it is more infectious. i went to a professional body meeting a week and a half ago and out of a couple of dozen people 16 have now come down with Covid, the ones who have not (like me) have had the bugger in the last 3-4 months.
