Well, starting to finally feel better. Fucking starving now and the passport news has cheered me right up.

Not allowed.out to Christmas eve which is a blessing to hopefully have a decent Xmas.

Even if I wasn't until 5 days after I'd had the booster I wouldn't be going out and about this close to Xmas.

Also, what are people not understanding about the need to get a booster, it literally explains why in layman's terms everywhere.

As an example (June 2021):

The Moderna vaccine has been shown to have an efficacy of approximately 94.1 per cent in protecting against COVID-19, starting 14 days after the first dose.

1 dose later and an extra booster, all within 9 months and its now only around 70% .

Or ask Sebastian, apparently he knows better, whoever the fuck Sebo is ?

Read how vaccines work.

Even I can understand it and I sell fucking theatre tickets.

How do you know? The speed they changed a stock vaccine to cover Covid right at the beginning; and we know that was how they made it so quickly, what’s to stop them changing the production line and altering ingredients to suit the ever changing virus? In fact, as we don’t know what was in the first, second or booster jab, we also don’t know they were the same thing in each.

They've already stated that the current vaccines are based on the original version of Covid. It apparently takes about a month to update it

I'm asking a question, personally I hope you are correct.

There's also no need to be a prick with your replies.

The Sebastian thing really gets under your skin doesn't it? That's three times you've call me a prick now.

I'm always a prick, you don't get special treatment.

Lighten up.

We know they lose their efficiency over time, the point I'm trying to make is that with 3 jabs over 9 months it's waned considerably, my worry is the more jabs we have, the less effective they are, and a considerable number of vaccinated people are still catching covid, although the death rate amongst the vaccinated is favourable, I'd say they aren't as efficient as people first thought.

I'm not an anti-vaxer or i wouldn't have had all 3.

There's no scientists on here, although plenty of fake ones, just debating the subject, putting something out there.

Now that’s a fair point

And around 87% protection for the AZ, a bit higher for Pfizer and Modena.

But yet the Booster only takes us to around 70% protection 🤷

Scepticism is setting in and fueling the anti-vax brigade, could they be right in the end ?

You're conflating two different strains.

Initially vaccines were developed against early strains. Kent variant came along just over a year ago, when they were being developed and approved. No issue with efficacy.

Then came the delta one which, thankfully, they still worked against (perhaps with a slightly reduced efficacy for the AZ one).

Now omicron which they are less effective against. However the big benefit is being seen when using Pfizer on top of AZ Initially. Resulting effect is still high, but not quite as high as against earlier ones.

I would imagine that if omicron does largely boot out delta, then the next lot of jabs will be based on twatting this new one.

Which is pretty similar to the annual flu jab. Which apparently has a lower protection than those for covid. So they're pretty good all things considered.

What do you mean by scientists?

If you mean top line virologist etc, then fair enough.

However plenty of us are nevertheless "scientists" by education and/or career, so may be able to get our heads round things a little better than some. Especially those that choose the decry what the real scientists tell them because it suits.

I'm not quite getting Sebastian, nice name and all that, I personally don't know any.

I called you a prick, because again, you couldn't give a straight answer to a relatively straight question.

We obviously don't agree on most things, but you do seem to have a problem with someone (me) who disagrees with you, I haven't a problem with it, at all.

It is a nice name. My nephew is called Sebastian.

Nice rounded simple response 👌

We are trying to jab our way out of this, frustrating for the majority of vaccinated folk who have conformed with habs, lockdowns etc..., again i just hope it doesn't fuel scepticism and play in to the anti-vax mob hands.

See, there is loads if that in newspapers and the like 👍

Just need to Google it.

Glad to hear it.

We do disagree on most things it seems, but that's fine. Life would be boring if we all agreed.

I'd believe that fella, but like everything, even Scientists have different opinions about covid, you can't blame people listening to certain ones because it suits their point of view.

You're right they do.

On that basis, the Government has no option that to take into account the advice from the likes of sage and sage sub committees, which themselves contain folk with a range of expertise and opinions. Which is then fed into the system with the liies of whitty et al doing their bit. Then onto the final decisions and rules etc.

After so much input and scrutiny, it's reasonable to accept that the rules are based on sound science and aren't unreasonable.

This is the point I was making about having an appreciation of how some of these scientific processes work.

There will always be outlying scientists etc, and a number like to come to the fore publicly and have a dig. Begs the question as to why, if their views are so pertinent, that they don't feed them in via the right channels, instead of publicly undermining efforts of folk and providing oxygen for those with a separate agenda.

There was an oncologist from St George's on the box last night. Of course he bashed the government, he also bashed those senior officers employed to provide the government with information. He also bashed other colleagues in the health service (dieticians etc). Frankly he was an utter disgrace. Knew better than those in their specialist areas. No doubt he'd kick the fuck off if whitty etc tried to tell him how to treat cancer patients.

All this is new, and folk are doing their level best to get a handle on it. Mistakes will be made, but as long as they're learned from and things improve then that's good.

Makes my piss boil when folk that should know better, go stomping their feet like a spoiled kid. Extremely counterproductive, because it does feed into the sensitivities of a minority of the public.

The fucking state of this plum

He certainly is.

On occasions, he does produce a pearl of wisdom and has a dry sense of humour. However he is also a dick. Like a number of his colleagues, will use information in an incomplete, disingenuous manner.

Nowt wrong with having general principles, but at times they seem to forget that viruses don't follow rules, respect morals etc. We're dealing with nature and not political dogma.
