At what point will football call a pause?

I said a few days ago that more and more will get called off, and it's happening.

Can't keep pissing about like this.

Leicester tried to postpone tonight

Fingers crossed for you mate.

I got the earlier model and it was the sickest I have ever been and there were knock on blood effects, i'm hoping that this new one is less nasty although it is more infectious.

i went to a professional body meeting a week and a half ago and out of a couple of dozen people 16 have now come down with Covid, the ones who have not (like me) have had the bugger in the last 3-4 months.

I've been well enough to work a full day with a few meetings thrown in. Honestly I would have thought I'd have had a 48 hour bug if it wasn't for the news, certainly I'd be happy to go out if I could.

Be amazed if there’s any football between Xmas and new year. Maybe February and start again.

The dartists will do well to get through without loads catching it.

I went once and they keep ventilation to a minimum to stop any drafts affecting the darts.

That room is a germ pit.

I’m currently assuming they can’t pin the reason on Covid otherwise it’d be off, Shirley.

Something about players having Covid... it was on the local news, didn't take much notice

Just your interpretation. They didn't appear that way for me; purely from a virus point of view maybe, but whitty stated there is more to it.

Don't go near a football ground unless it's for a vaccine seemed pretty clear cut

Got boosted today.

concerning hearing from Whitty.

Might be a bumpy few months. Let’s hope not and particularly for those impacted in hospitality, leisure and tourism who’ve been left in the dark again.

He’s an horrendous watch.

If footballs off hospitality goes

Understandably they don't want any more business bale outs so I don't think government will mandate it

Even though its blatantly obvious what the scientists want

He's a bigger doom munger than Farrelli

He’s a half glass empty type, he’d fit right in on here. Mind you the WHO chap Nabboo was even worse.

Whitty and the countries top GP were clear they don't think he's going far enough

Anyway we will see

I didn’t get that from Whitty.

Whitty even said that we shouldn’t be locking down the vulnerable.

He's not there as a politician, TV star etc.

His slides aren't the easiest to follow becasue of time constraints.

He's typical of a highly knowledgeable academic, and often talks in such terms.

I do like his willingness to correct reporters, when they're not fulsome in facts.

Not sure I'd go to an after dinner speech of his though. 😄

Yeah but Covids not around on Christmas day, covids having a day off apparently, so we are all okay to mingle, but come Boxing day and all that Football, it'll be back with a vengeance, like Turkey butties 😁

I've heard it from two sources.

A mates mate who is a Times journo

One of our external suppliers

No idea if it's likely or not or what 'lockdown' even means anymore. It sure as fuck won't be adhered to as strictly as lockdown 1 was.

Seen some predictions on twitter that cases are going to explode over a relatively short period - remains to be seen how that translates into admissions and deaths. Possible for this wave to be over as quickly as its arrived although at what cost we don't yet know.

If a journalist believed that to be the case, then it would be asked at the presentation wouldn't it.

What's more, the period between Christmas and New year sees many off work anyway. Apart from football and shitty sales not massive amounts happening.

A bit of a lockdown anyway.

They will by the looks of it, 74k today and loads don't know they have it. Also testing will hit capacity in the next day or two so the true number will never be known. However, that doesn't necessarily matter if hospitalisations don't follow suit. Fingers crossed 🤞

Aye

a timely firebreak.

If it’s ripping through us this fast, we may not have a choice to make as it may burn out just as quickly.

I just can’t see a lockdown. There’s no money, for one thing.

Indeed.

Mathematical plot on sky news last night showed that the entire country would be infected by around New year time.

Just on the doubling stat, but doesn't obviously take into account lack of potential folk to newly infected once numbers are very high amongst other factors.

Still going to be a brief rough ride.
