A View From The Other Side

I realise some of you may have zero interest in this which is fair enough but from time to time I like to have a snoop on OppositionWays out of curiosity. Thought it was worth compiling some together which I'll do in this thread whenever I get chance.

Seems like Lincoln have some pretty level headed fans but then one or two absolutely bitter fuckers.

Pick of the bunch includes:

THE BITTER

Quote

How about 10 points deducted for every £million of debt a club has?
Wonder just how low these perennial cheats would drop?

Quote
Bolton stayed in Lincoln last night. Not leaving much to chance.

No that was so they could rack up extra debt.

Quote

Surely we can't lose to these cheats?
Why are they not on multiple minus points?

Quote

I'd rather be us than them. How long do they have to pay their debt?

Quote

The simple truth is, as much as the away fans won't want to admit it, we lost to one of those vile clubs tonight. One of those that has spent beyond their means, and clearly continues to do so.

THE PRAISE

Quote

Good game. Shit result.
By the standards of last season Bolton should be pushing for promotion. But then that was last season.

Quote

Beaten by the better team. Good to see a big away following.

Quote

FT. Good game. Credit to Bolton - they did enough to control the game throughout, although we had some bright moments, especially in the first half. They also scored at exactly the right time and managed the game out.

Quote

Bolton also look like a really good side who should be in the top half of the table.

Quote

I have backed Bolton to win the league as I think they are a decent team. They looked like a very settled team that are used to winning.

He got us out of league one, kept us in the Championship against the odds & only really failed when the ship was sinking financially. Yes he was a little direct & predictable, but I wish

Yeah it’s really bizarre. We aren’t the dog n duck and they ain’t Barcelona. We’ve had more years in the prem than them.

Fuck em

Is that accurate?

No.

It actually is accurate. Their 16 to our 13. I then googled seasons spent in top division, they’re higher than us there too; 86 to our 73.

What they don’t beat us at, if they only want to believe life started with the Premier League is highest finish where our 6th place completely batter their 7th. 🤣

A proper swinging dick contest!

Some of them moaning about the pitch. Nobbers. Even if it is poor (which I’m not sure it is) don’t both teams play on it?

True story

I was stood by the pitch as their players came onto it pre game to have a wander - about 1pm maybe; one said:

”oh look a pitch with grass on it”

So they were certainly happy with it

This is worth a watch.

Hilarious reading some of their pre match comments and afterwards as well.

There's deluded and then there is Sunderland. Especially liked " this line up will be too strong for Bolton" and "we will smash them" and another who called us "non league". Kept banging on about the strength of their bench as well. Must have been made of fooking mahogany!

Loved the mackem watching our I follow who was outraged that 4 out of the 5 predicted a Bolton Win. After taking piss he said "unless they know something we don't!" PMSL & ROLFCOPTER

Here’s an Irish Sunderland supporter. What’s your name, Brian?

Well done Matty, that’s almost as entertaining as the game yesterday.

I never realised how ignorant Sunderland fans are.  They aren’t the first big club to plumb the depths of the lower leagues but they seem to think reputation and history means they’re entitled to be at the top table.

Anyway see you in the playoffs Sunderland.

Very reminiscent of this place when we played Fleetwood etc.

Pride comes before a fall!

Savage! 🤣🤣🤣

Actually having read 169 pages of RTG last night with a beer (miles better than a Stephen King novel) and seen the state of some giving the interviews never mind being interviewed outside the ground (why is a so called fan outside interviewing other so called fans when the match is still going on, it was 3-0 to us at the time and all they could say was "fookin shite") I have come to the scientific conclusion that "simpleton" sums up 90% of their support 😀

COYW!!

Facts are they DO have huge support.

Not necessarily bright, or broad thinking but there's a lot of them.

Partly because there's f'call else to do but hide from the wind and partly due to no other local clubs.

But they seem to believe that translates to success. Which it clearly doesn't.

Also, exceptionally 'entitled'. Add, 'fickle' in the short term and their famed exit trail from the SoL when losing ... exampled yesterday at the UniBol when 80% had gone by 80m in.

Then the sense of 'other' is zero. Clearly we've been in turmoil for a few years, obviously we've just had a poor couple of months which saw us drop from 6th to 17th. But you really would think we are the Dog & Duck. Odd really.

"This is vintage filth"

🤣

Deluded dolmio drinking twats

It's the fact that even after that there seemed to be a lot still saying they wouldn't take any of our squad and thinking their players are the best in the league.

Like Newcastle they struggle to get players wanting to relocate up there and can't say I had heard of many of their players. Although that isn't surprising as know fuck all about most teams.

Some of the comments are very reminiscent of our own though a few weeks back. Passing out from the back, two weak, no leaders etc etc.

Have a mate from the north east, not a sunlun fan but he was telling me how they always have 30,000 plus at home in league one and bring massive amounts of away support and for that reason they deserve better and that they HAVE to get promoted this season or it’s a disgrace.

Football doesn’t really work like that unfortunately for them. I know we sometimes have our own ego about being “massive” but some of the sunlun fans need to get a reality check

I never knew Owen Coyle supported Sundlan' - and why are they all speaking Gaelic?

Great work Matty.

There are some sensible Sunderland fans but they've got large numbers of deluded whoppers who think that big crowds & nothing else should guarantee them success, who think a club like Bolton Wanderers are the Dog & Duck & I especially like the ones who convince themselves that they only lose because their opponents raise their game because they're playing against the "massive" Sunderland.

I met my old boss , his daughter and another bloke I know who are Sunderland fans for a pint before game. He said they have some very good 'nice' players who on paper should win the league but said they were spineless and if we got at them they would be worried.
His text after the game just said 'embarrassing' and their train back from Manchester was cancelled. Good day all round for them.

Sunlun can get 150k when they are top of Division 3. Then when they are bottom of the Prem with 7 points they struggle to get 15k. A vicious cycle that massive clubs fall in to.

They have got to be in the top 3 most deluded fan bases in the country.

Massive fan base but a small club. Never done anything of note in my 37 years on this planet bar lose a play off final on pens.

Take their extra 10k fans away and they are no bigger than us historically.

Massive catchment area up there and only one club to rival them.

They need to read some history books the thick fucking pricks.

We know some Sunderland fans who are a good bunch to be fair. But the face of Sunderland support are hard to take. Crowd noncing is a bad offence on its own but the fact they are delusional beyond their wildest dreams make them quite odious to an outsider. Reality is though by Tuesday they will be a distant memory again. Something they fail to grasp.

Worked up there a few years ago , they are myopic but very loyal .

The place itself is a bit like a city but with a village mentality.

Just the Mags to despise, & to a lesser extent the smoggies.

As has been said large catchment area , Durham being a main stronghold

places like Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor , even Hartlepool where they bus them in from.

Correct. Big area- we've got friends who are supporters, and they're farmers near to weardale. A fair distance to travel for a lot of them, but the roads are quick out of the bigger places.

Quite a few geordies and mackem fans down here. Don't know if it's bollocks but the maggies have always claimed that the main reason Sunlun get decent crowds (on the face of it) is because they give reams of tickets away for every home game - especially to schools, retired miners and other charities.
