Hence why they are most often cited as Landfill - totally swapable in terms of music. Maximo Park certainly wasn't - there was a term indie sleaze that seems to be around which fitted the sligjtly more celebral bands of that era. Like id suggest Editors first ablum was a lot better than the mire of The View, Kooks, The Automatic - urgh, gives me shivers and flashbacks of Soccer AM and Hoxton Fins 😁 Yeah there was definitely a link with soccer am You can spot 00s indie a mile off But I reckon you can with 90s too I liked sleeper but just the same as elastica and echobelly And lush in hindsight Quote

deeane Koontz Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Was watching some owd Soccer AM clips recently. It really was class wasn't it. Probably struggle getting some of that on after the watershed now Quote
Not in Crawley Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Elastica had a bit more about them. There was the term 'Sleeper blokes' for all the faceless band members in all those 97/8 bands. Quote

Jumped from shoegaze to full Britpop. Must have realised had bills to pay. Elastica were a cut above the other female fronted uk indie, although Echobelly were good live driven by Debbie Smith’s guitar who had cut her teeth with the magnificent Curve. Whatever happened to the Elite Posters Music Thread? Quote
Not in Crawley Posted February 11 Posted February 11 30 years too late but i cant stop listening to Papa M - David Pajo. I know he'd been touring with Yeah Yeah Yeahs and was in the legendary Slint but his solo stuff is mind blowing. Just a genius guitarist. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Just bought tickets for Valentine's day for Maximo Park for the other half. She liked them, I'm a bit meh - but thats the five years difference between us for music you loved when you were young. Quote
