Same era but different ilk.

All the bands ive listen their songs were pretty much interchangable. Hence why they are most often cited as Landfill - totally swapable in terms of music.

Maximo Park certainly wasn't - there was a term indie sleaze that seems to be around which fitted the sligjtly more celebral bands of that era. Like id suggest Editors first ablum was a lot better than the mire of The View, Kooks, The Automatic - urgh, gives me shivers and flashbacks of Soccer AM and Hoxton Fins 😁

Yeah there was definitely a link with soccer am

You can spot 00s indie a mile off

But I reckon you can with 90s too

I liked sleeper but just the same as elastica and echobelly And lush in hindsight

Dunno, you've just listed bands from the same era

You either like them or you don't

I actually liked hard fis first album and saw them tour it and was a top gig

Second album and gig was embarrassing

So many bands from that time were "The"

Wombats, ordinary boys, enemy, fratellis etc

They were the ones to watch out for

Maybe one good single at best

Couldn't stand bloc party either, just noise

Him storming off Never Mind The Buzzcocks is TV gold.

Yeah I was a big fan. Funnily emough they're all doing a big tour together, only in North America though. New Pornos too.

I've looked at tickets for this. Metric got a new album coming out too.

Everything Everything seem to get lumped in with this genre for some reason despite being a million times better.

Soccer AM was disastrous by the end, but some of those podcasts Fenners puts out about jackets and football boots are brilliant!

Lush were a strange one. Jumped from shoegaze to full Britpop. Must have realised had bills to pay.

Elastica were a cut above the other female fronted uk indie, although Echobelly were good live driven by Debbie Smith’s guitar who had cut her teeth with the magnificent Curve.

Whatever happened to the Elite Posters Music Thread?

30 years too late but i cant stop listening to Papa M - David Pajo. I know he'd been touring with Yeah Yeah Yeahs and was in the legendary Slint but his solo stuff is mind blowing. Just a genius guitarist.

Avatar and Alien Weaponry tonight. Currently suffering through some sort of Avant Garde goth show from Witch Club Satan and it's fucking awful

Have they got their tits out as usual?

That piqued my interest, so I googled them.
Jesus, that'd be a terrifying wank.

Just watched You Wildflower and it made me realise how much I miss 120 minutes and Headbangers Ball. Sundays ain’t the same in your 40s 😞

Gig finished at 10:15 and we were complaining about being tired and wanting to go to bed. 20 years ago we'd have been buzzing about getting time for a few drinks in town before heading home.

just got myself a ticket for Pulp on Tuesday, never seen them before, so looking forward to it, but should probably listen to the new album a bit more first

stumbled across a garage / pysch rock brisbane radio station show today

https://www.4zzz.org.au/

played a song by the datsuns, was good, and heard a few others by them

said they're playing here in march

so just got ticket for that as well

aiming for a gig a month here

black crowes and horrors in town in april

might do the latter

Got Faithless in August

Not really listened to them since Maxi Jazz died so not sure how its going to go

Could do a really good job of it or it could be utter shite, only one way to find out

Can’t bring myself to do it. They (she) are doing a small festival outside Plymouth in the summer but doesn’t seem right.
