Rather than let the media speculate, put the reality out there.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted October 2, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted October 2, 2021 There is a finite volume of water on earth. It never changes other than it’s form. Just open the tap at the deep end of the reservoir and let it go. Eventually it’ll evaporate, float away in a cloud, come back as rain/hail/snow, etc., and fills up a reservoir. It’s called the water cycle. The only issue we have to worry about is how much water is in what state, gas, liquid or solid.volume of water We aren’t that fussed about the water vapour, the important bit is proportions of solid to liquid. Breightmet Boy
I got it last week. It'll get worse after we've finished throwing up social houses up on every bit of spare land and golf courses for big families.

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted October 2, 2021 Author Site Supporter Share Posted October 2, 2021 Saw "Supersized earth" this morning. Absolutely fascinating TV, all about human impact on the planet. Included within it was a feature about our need for water, and how little of earth's total volume is actually available to us. They did a feature on the Hoover dam, then mentioned the large number of other huge dams. Then came the super fact- we've dammed that much that it has slowed the spin of the planet, making the days a touch longer. Mind blowing! So we’re just a few more dams away from slowing it down to the point that we all just float off into space? Serves us right. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted October 2, 2021 Author Site Supporter Share Posted October 2, 2021 Can only think is angular momentum, mr Newton and all that. China is building an aqueduct 1200km long to take water from the south to the north. Built in 45m sections of reinforced concrete, each weighing 1200tonnes. Each section dips 1cm across its length. When that bugger is finished, I reckon we'll have another hour a day!
