read that somewhere, seems it's a lot of Championship teams spending for Premier League. When they miss the target they're screwed for years..

see us for an a perfect example of this

No what i am saying is the polar opposite, if the manager gets potted all the rest of the management team would carry on as normal.  Why should potting a manager mean you lose a good keeper coach or a physio who has been working on three or four players recovery for x amount of time.

Mostly because the first-team staff have often built their relationships with each other at other clubs and come as a package

Any manager coming in will usually want to bring in staff he trusts and has worked with before

I suppose it's no different from a new ownership group bringing in their own board

Don't forget the assistant kit man (Brett Ormerod)

My point is that other clubs were spending a much greater proportion, thanks to billionaire owner investment, and beat us to promotion.

The year Birmingham and Wrexham were in the league we finished 16 points behind Wycombe and 10 behind Leyton Orient.

It is antiquated and needs leaving behind.....Nothing like the owners bringing their own people in

Yes because he had no coaching badges.......It should have been nipped in the bud by the board.

Give over

Managers and coaches have to be aligned on what it is they're trying to do

Forcing a manager to work with a coach he doesn't want to work with does no one any favours

I doubt many coaches would want to hang around rather than join the manager at their next club either

Not sure they're too bothered about someone helping out with kits 😅

All modern coaches can adapt to change to a Managers thoughts.....Some managers like to throw a coach or two under a bus if the flack is pointed their way. Seen it here not too long ago

They can only join the manager if their is another job vacant.......We are seeing especially in the Premiership these posts are not available.

Clubs in lge 1/2 cannot afford to pay two three year contracts up for up to six staff most years

I’m sure @Rival Son can speak for himself, but reading his posts back, I think all he’s trying to say is that this rule shouldn’t disadvantage us if we stay in L1.

Of course there’s an assumption in the “shouldn’t”, that owners and management need to spend wisely, which clearly didn’t happen in that last Evatt season.

The spending and recruitment this year has been much better - hopefully the proof is in the pudding come 3 o clock on Sunday.

Then they should either

a. Recruit better

or

b. not be so hasty to sack managers after two defeats on the bounce.

Evatt had five years not two defeats on the bounce or he would have gone in September of his first season

That’s exactly my point. Thank you.

I think you've just made the bit in bold up

Just like any other profession, some football coaches are better than others when it comes to communicating ideas, tactical thoughts, having the ability to deal with certain personalities, etc.

I don't think it's actually going to make much difference at all. Partly because it already exists and nobody has ever noticed it, so it can't be that hard to work around. And partly because, outside of Birmingham, the sums of money involved in L1 are small enough that it's hard to buy the league.

We've been in this league for five years and in four of them we've finished behind at least two teams with smaller budgets. And in that season we lost to one in the playoff final.

He did. Which is why we are not paying two sets of wages most years.

It is like a Mechanic learning his job at a Ford main dealer.......If the Renault garage down the road offers him a better Salary he could not do it....Imagine him going to the interview and saying he can only fix Ford Cars

In my opinion both Evatt and Markham needed replacing..Nothing wrong with the likes of Gilks and Atherton

If they wanted to join Evatt, they could have put their notice in and joined him without us paying their contracts up

It's not, but we're not going to agree so it's best left

Issue is, any incoming manager has an excuse in hand "You won't let me bring my own team in".

A first team coach has the final say on everything  from recruitment to selection and system of the first team.

The only  thing he will not have the final say in is on medical issues........No if a coach fails it will  be mainly through his own actions.

Out of interest @masi 51 what is it you believe the kitman does at Bolton, or any other professional club?

Not got a clue what a assistant kitman does?

Out of interest what would a ex professional player without coaching badges do at a club?
