  • I just want my lad to witness a promotion. Don't really care what happens or who plays for us after that. I definitely will in the future, but the absolute focus has to be to get out of this mind-numb

  • I disagree. His BWFC years were some of his greatest and happiest of his career. His latest SSN documentary piece highlighted this, as does countless footage of his wonder, his PFA nominatio

Morley out for the season

Any info what the injury is?

Doesn't necessarily mean it's a really bad one though: only 4 games left after all.

With our luck though, it will probably be a several month job.

We do have our fair share of injuries.

I think if Wycombe go up Morley will end up back there.

Hope not. He’d be the 1 midfielder that I’d be keeping and building the rest of the midfield around. A proper midfielder

No great loss if the money’s right.

He doesn’t control/dominate games and creates little for the forwards. Adequate L1 midfielder,  but nothing special.

He'd be a championship midfielder though.

Fwiw, I can't see him going there- they could have bought him over the Christmas window, and didn't.

I'd build around Morley out of them all, especially how much he improved physically. He was always good on the ball but was slow getting around the pitch but even though we've been poor he's done pretty well especially when 90% of the time when he's looking to provide our so called two attackers are nowhere to be seen in the box. Hopefully it's not a bad injury as if we address the glaring issues that hurt us for the past few seasons & get a bit of balance in around him we could see him be very influential next season. Our midfields been built very poorly over the years, Dempsey's the most complete one but unreliable, Sheehan is good on the eye but a lot of the time completely pointless if a mans been stuck on him, Thomason although a great attitude & work ethic has been poor since given captaincy. If we need to sell a few to get some in then so be it, needs freshening up in that area.

I'd definitely keep Morley a d support him with better players, I liked him before but he come back a different beast for me.

As well as the usual stuff he does he's added tracking back and being the last defender and overlapping on the right wing on occasion. Definitely good enough to get us out of this division with better players.

Plus slotting in at centre half when we chasing!

Morley, Thomason, Sheehan and Dempsey all have limitations but all perfectly good top end League One midfielders. Unless a bid for Sheehan, I’d expect all to stay and be supplemented by one or two slightly different types.

A ball carrier (a la Dempsey / Maghoma) is needed and probably someone with a bit of bite / experience

I’d say midfield is the least of our issues personally.

only 2 midfielders id keep is morley and dempsey

Nobody is saying that last season.

Shows there's still hope for some already written off...

Id say our midfield is weak as piss to be honest, Sheehan and Thomo are nowhere near good enough and Dempsey is injured every season. Roll back 12 months prior when maghoma was here and Dempsey couldn’t get a look in.

I find it laughable that people think a regular starter in international football for a world top-30 ranked country is nowhere near good enough to play in League 1.

League 1 might not suit his game and we might not play to his strengths or protect him enough, but to ssay he's nowhere near good enough is very strange.

If Morley was Welsh, he may well be in their squad though.

Sheehan has his strengths and weaknesses, just like all our division 3 midfielders.

Shitting out of a challenge is unacceptable though for a professional; doesn't matter how much protection is afforded him, sooner or later he will have to put his foot it. That's the frustration with him. Nowt else.

Sheehan's issue is, as you say, L1 doesn't suit him, especially in a set-up that exposes him to routinely getting clogged out of games.

Arguably he's shown with Wales that he can play with and against better than he's dealing with in our Division, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one that leaves, to a mid / lower end Champ side or even somewhere beyond our shores.

He's not. Just like Gethin Jones.

What a truly terrible signing he's been.

You wonder what Rob Edwards had over pep light. I reckon he owed him some money😂

I have no idea what CMG is good at or what position he plays. He comes on and out shape falls apart. He starts and we lose.

I never understood why we signed him but then again he’s not the only 1.

He's only ever played L1, L2 and international football

Not sure what suits him if getting clogged in L1 doesn't

Can't dispute that, perhaps in international football, with the better officiating and VAR, opponents know they can get away with a lot less of the systematic clogging in L1.

Our system, and Evatt's fixation on him being the deep lying midfielder hasn't helped. If he was played further forward he'd have the ball in areas where opponents would think twice about chopping him, or if they did it'd be worth it for a free kick in a dangerous area or a pen.

Evatt, in exceptional circumstances, played him higher up in the game v Derby at home and he caused that sort of damage, flitting around behind the forwards and earning a pen
