RCB: Gethin, Toal, Forrester

CB: Santos, Toal

LCB: Iredale, Toal, Forrester

Could do with a left footed Centreback who can also play in that middle spot, to cover if Santos gets injured.

But still think priority is midfield and RWB so I won’t be bothered if we don’t sign another defender

If Iredale is considered as a genuine option for LCB, and Toal will be fit for the start of the season, then I think we’ll be in the market for one more CB, probably utilising a loan in the same way we did with Mbete (hopefully better).

If Iredale is a LWB in Evatt’s eyes then I reckon we’ll be after 2, one of which will have to be more than just a young loan who provides cover.

Mendes gomez out for 5 or 6 weeks , hamstring

Couple of others back from international duty with knocks as well.

Do you not think the "knocks" are Evatt mind games??

Some injuries are picked up on contact; can't do anything about that. Charles and Santos both had them recently.

Too many things like hamstrings though.

I know Evatt talks about fitness, but you wonder if training is over the top. Injuries and players being knackered part way through a game are regularly.

Not buying evatt excuse that the injuries are down to we train harder than the other teams the new players have come from so it’s five them muscular injuries. And if that’s right then they want reign it back he was saying a few players were fatigued on Saturday

I do buy the reasoning, even if I don't think it's really acceptable it keeps happening

It seems a surprising admission to make by IE, given that he'll maybe want to sign a couple of players in January.  If they sign at end Jan, maybe on loan, how long before they get upto speed and will the parent club be happy about the fact that there's a good chance their player will get a muscle injury within a few weeks and won't play many games?  Would they be ready to make a proper impact and start games before April, if summer recruits are anything to go by?

Plus good pro's SHOULD be fit and be able to learn a new format in a couple of weeks.

Sounds a bit like getting his excuses in early tbh. He knows his forwards signed in the past 2 windows have simply not clicked. F'call to do with training.

I don’t think it’s the fitness that the new players lack but Evatt’s “robotic” system. I’m not saying we don’t need a system but Evatt’s seems to be more complicated than most. When we lost rhythm as we did against Reading on Saturday nobody seems to be able to restore it and the multiple substitutions don’t help. When the systems not working we don’t have anyone on the field who seems able to change it unlike when we had Lee and Kacha. Maybe it’s that bit of experience that’s missing?

“It has been a rough week in terms of injuries, we have been hammered, in fact,” he said. “I don’t believe any squad of players in this division could cope with the amount of injuries we have had, and there have been more in the last few days.

“Dion is very much up in the air. We know the joint isn’t damaged, which is probably the most positive bit of news, but we know there is damage to the ligaments that hold the joint in place.

“We have picked up more injuries – ones we didn’t know about after the match on Saturday and in the last few days – but I don’t think it would be beneficial for anyone other than Peterborough to discuss them right now,” Evatt said.

He blamed the pitches at the training ground last season for some of the injuries at one point . I think they have been replaced in the summer so he can’t use that one now

It all depends which quotes you want to use to highlight your point.

Maybe just like at City and Chelsea injuries happen, it’s not a systematic/managerial/specific problem to a club.

And maybe we are one of the stronger squads who can cope

“Look, it isn’t ideal at all, and what we did last season was look at the data to see how we could have adjusted training to make sure this kind of thing didn’t happen,” he said.

“We tried that but unfortunately some of the injuries we have picked up are anomalies, really, they are contact injuries or over-stretches, that can happen over the course of a football match.

“We have to deal with it. I genuinely don’t think any squad in this division could cope with the amount of injuries we have at the moment but I think we can.

Over-stretches. Hmm, of course such things can happen, but for all the technology and sports science, diet etc, such things don't seem to be minimised.

Contact injuries, yes of course- theyre part and parcel of the game, but we do get a number of strains in various parts of the body.

IoC should be able to shed more light, given his coaching knowledge.

Majority of City’s injuries are muscle tweaks, strains etc If they can’t get the sports science right to prevent it, then there’s no chance for anyone else.

No one is saying you can prevent them entirely. We do have a continuing issue over injuries though, in particular players getting another injury soon after returning.

We've also got our best midfielder playing with a back injury, and arguably not hitting the levels he was previously.

Simply doesn't sit right.
