If not too much of a personal question, what sort of pay rises are people getting at the moment to help with rising living costs ?
 

Spoken to a few people and one got 1.75%, another 2%, but one got 4% at beginning of year with another rise due in 6 months if company can afford it.

I've reduced my hours this year, higher rate of pay but I'm down overall... didn't time that one well did I?

Still I enjoy the time off, thanks to energy prices etc. I can't currently afford to do as much as I wanted but I've got a little money making scheme in mind

by around 20-25% for my big company type clients

but left the small guys as they were

I was told I was too cheap beforehand anyway

Other private pensions about the same. A loss in real terms.

Even 1% for our average wage earners is a hefty sum when you're already on £150k

But they also promised not to get shut of it in the first place.

So given they've already bullshitted Leigh once, why would he believe them this time?

 

I put my pricess up a tad, some not happy, but meh.

I'll be getting a pay cut more than likely. My prices will have to go up a bit but not enough to give my employees a rise as well as myself.

I'm doing more work now for less money than a few years ago. Get me out this rat race asap

Was offered 5% and I kicked off and got the owner to raise it to 7.5% for all staff across the board, and he agreed to  another review in 6 months if inflation continues.

So paying for an illness cover when the life cover you have may already contain an element of Critical Illness Cover may not be the greatest value for money. 

I’m no financial expert but it saved me a shilling or two when I realised and was reimbursed when I contacted them for mis-selling. 

Yes I do. I’ve done this on top of that to get more cover. Cheers for flagging though. Similarly I’ve done a few life insurances.

I just like fair play and I knew the business could afford it.  I did use a good union word and said to the owner his offer was derisory.

Took a dividend, paid off some of the CC debt that I had from the pandemic so the monthly bill is less.

Got a big new client which is internationally touring and about to leave London for a UK tour (see local press in May for details) which as helped.

Although lots of shows are currently being cancellend due to the uptick in Covid, another week in Norwich just gone like that.

Starting this business I'm earning more than I have before which helps, would like to give ourselves another 1,500 wage top up before the end of the year but it all depends on work.

Either way it'll be tight but the gamble to go for a smaller business taking a bigger slice of the pie had worked...so far!

You forgot the faux pride everyone has in the NHS but forgets it all as soon as they phone the gestapo on reception at their GP. 

Ours came through today. 4% across the board. No complaints from me. Thought it would be nearer 1% like the last 2 years
