Them Wigan C **nts.

Ok fair fucks they won the league an’ all that, but tonight i had to endure a midnight train full of the turds on a train from Manc to Wigan with loads of feral scruffs singing “Bolton get battered” blah fucking blah.

They can enjoy their day in the sun, but we’re on our way back and our paths will no doubt cross again.

Karma.

Not sure why such an obsession with Wigan’s crowds. If we crow about selling 15k S/Ts, are Leeds or Sheff Wed justified calling us tinpot? It’s all relative, 10k for them in Div 1 is good just like 4K for Fleetwood, Morecame and Accy is.  It’s like other clubs can only be pleased with a crowd if it’s bigger than ours.

Unfortunately its a fair point . When Andy walker scored after 27 seconds openeing game of the season home to Huddersfield , 15/08/92 we had 7.5k on , damn site cheaper too.

People can knock Wigans home support but their away support especially as a % of home support is excellent.

Good point

2200 Derby, 1000 wrexham & sold 1200 Carlisle tonight and won’t be far off full allocation at ours, all in the first month is very good

They will sell out their end .

Is this anything to do with not being scared of us anymore ?

Not trying to be a dick but Burnden was a fearsome place and with half the fans.

Ive met fans from at least 20 clubs that have said Burnden park was like running the gauntlet .

We took Springfield park every time , is this them just trying to get something back ? prove a point ?

Im old and out of touch and shit  so just thinking on paper .

Is this going to be the match thread too or is it not best to reserve itself for general fuckwittery?

It’s going to be a long week I think it’s fair to say Matt.

Just think its 2023 mate and those days are long gone.

Itll be lively, with 6 million police, it always is but the only thing intimidating about the reebok is not being able to use the parking app.

Technology plays a big part, too. The HD imagery on the ground’s CCTV equipment gives you nowhere to hide.

Green Vigo aging well. 🤣

Crikey, he’s one from the past. I remember him and Danny Wilson tearing up the boozers in Swinton and Pendlebury in the 70’s early 80’s.

We've got plenty of them,  loads will be sewing on their new badges this week all ready for Saturday.

Indeed and Giggs turned out to be a chip off the old block.

The bigger their crowd the bigger their disappointment when we hopefully send them home pointless. It should be a cracking game with no quarter asked or given but one we surely should come out on top in?

Would rather have played them later in the season, when their lack of depth will catch up with them most likely. Set up for a belter Saturday though, could go either way imo. If we both win tonight, could it be a near sell out barring odd seats? Not that far off now looking at the map.

I think we are looking at breaking our post Prem attendance record against Derby last season (25,428)

Gonna be a hell of an atmosphere, we are long overdue giving these pie eaters a battering!

Let's have a good win tonight and carry the momentum into the weekend.

I, like the majority of us am coming up on Saturday just happy to have a team to follow after the shysters that owned us buggered off. It will be difficult ofcourse but I'm thinking any pressure going could be on you as favourites...we have loads of young lads who look quite good and try to play the right way. Its a big test no doubt but so was Derby so not insurmountable.  The league itself looks winnable for someone like yourselves who can string a run together but there lies the danger of games where expectations run too far ahead. Take Northampton last Saturday who we down here all thought would be banjo'd sharpish but in reality played very well and were tricky.

I'll skip all the good luck bollocks for the rest of the season but would expect you to take one of the top 2 slots and hope we can make the playoffs.  Injuries and squad depth may play a part in any of this so who knows.

Hi Rubbertex, I think Saturday will be a reality test for you to see whether your opening wins have been genuine or otherwise. I don’t think we could be playing any better or be in better form so if you do get anything then it will be well deserved. Either way with a big crowd in both teams will be expected to perform. I see your attack as quality but elsewhere I suspect you’re fairly weak and that could be your downfall this year. That said your young guns have done well so far so if they can keep that going who knows where you can finish?
