Claims supporters have got hold of the name, ground and history

This is likely to get very amusing

They can hardly afford to split the support

I hope they join up and make a fist of it… but cant see us playing them ever again in a league game.

2 very distinct camps.

The pro Gigg Lane lot that now have the ground, the name but no team.

AFC who have a team but nowt else.

Pretty simple solution you'd think but many of the Gigg Lane lot hate AFC and don't want anything to do with them.

AFC dont think Gigg Lane is a viable option for a NWC side and are pretty resentful of the abuse many got for trying to keep some sort of footy going.

Council and Govt funding towards Gigg was dependent upon there being 1 club and 1 direction of travel.

Get the popcorn out!

Quite right. Incredible they will split. They are the definition of 2 team club though, saying that they’ll get more respect than Wigan do

It's sad when any club goes to the wall. So a few of their lot took glee in us almost going bust, the fact is we were lucky to get a decent investor and this could happen to any club given the FA don't seem to really give a flying who buys football clubs - look what happened to Oldham, their owners are also completely unfit to run what - at this level - is a huge community resource.

Best of luck to them and hope they manage to sort out their differences and get the club back to a decent level.

I'm getting to on a bit and it wasn't until well into the days we had dropped out of the Barclays Premier League that i even knew that Bury disliked us, i even went to Gigg lane one time to watch them when they the had a chance to go up last game of the season, can't remember who they played but they messed it up and didn't go up. Was the same day city got relegated by Luton and i think we lost at Palace and went down too.

Not really a good day for North West clubs was it.

I attended a Bury game at the request of my kids who, at the time, were avid Soccer AM watchers on Saturday mornings. Lovejoy and Chamberlain had a part in the programme where, for a now forgotten reason, they encouraged folk to attend a Bury game if our own team was away. Prices had been dropped to around a fiver for adults and a quid a kid.

So, my £12 was handed over. Can’t even recall who they were playing. All I do recall was the Bury fans spending the entire game singing about their hatred of Bolton Wanderers; my team!

For that reason alone, fuck their club and fuck their team, however distant the two remain.

How it is all panning out is pretty much I envisaged it happening with us if we ever got to that stage. Think one of the Bury sides is linked with a supporters trust and the other aligned to the supporters club which all sounds a bit familiar. Thank fuck it never happened.

Lad who I went to school with is heavily involved with his brother and dad (think it is). Nice guy amd Bury through and through, used to do the match day commentary on the radio.

Hope they sort it out, nothing against Bury,  and we were fortunate to stay afloat, they weren't.

Did offer to help out with the cleanup,

Bollocks to everyone, it’s us v them. Nearly every club wanted us ousted, they can all do one, Saturday is about Bolton Wanderers and no one else, unless your a football fan of course.

I’ve not found that everyone wanted us to go bust and disappear.

It was the kind of folk that I choose not to socialise with who offered those opinions.

I found a lot of empathy to our predicament.

Not clubs, only PNE & Everton helped the staff

I went to that game too, 1983.  Played Dave Bassett's Wimbledon, needed to win to go up, but opposition was too strong, I think they won the league.  Scunthorpe went up instead, it was on Granada TV (Martin Tyler commentated).  I enjoyed going to Gigg Lane in them days but lost interest when they put seats in, ruined the feel of the place.

Yes we went down that day, 4-1 defeat at Charlton.  Our first game in 3rd division was Wimbledon.

Hmm, Charlton eh?, I knew it was saarth Larndon but if asked i would have said crystal palace.

Can't remember Going to Bury again till around 85-86ish around Christmas time and the game got cancelled, a lot had already travelled as i think it was an early K.O.

Let's not forget the buckets outside the Reebok.

Some front on them.

Actually, loads of clubs helped BWFC out by paying wages of staff, and donating to the charity.....and also many fans of those clubs too.

Seems that many Bolton fans now forget all that.

Yeah I think decent folk all over were sympathetic and helped. The bell ends on social media celebrating our demise are not worth a shit. We have a few knobs as well who fall into that category

The three I particularly recall were your own Everton, Preston and Stretford. Doubtless there were others. I'm sure many helped silently too.

I won't forget Doncaster, Peterborough, Lincoln, Scunthorpe and the like who simply saw us & Bury as an opportunity to reduce their relegation options.

... and I'll never, ever understand the Bury born, and linked Neville brothers & their chums not taking an established club and working with them rather than the Salford City project.

Bill Kenwright also tried to donate £1 million to Bury to save them, but the league refused it as he holdings in another team.
