In the circumstances, why would he play that shot?

Just bizarre. We have gone from a team where everyone knew their job and did it to 11 blokes seeming like they are making it up as they go along.

I’ll hang my head in shame and wash my mouth out but glad the Aussies beat India. Didn’t sit right re the pitch shenanigans

Fair play to them.

Not been following it, so don't know about any pitch shenanigans.

Also pleased they won.

Naughty.

Wonder why NZ didn't kick off at the time and say get fucked, we're sticking with no 7.

Similarly the ICC- where were they before the start of play?

Doubly glad they lost.

india bought cricket, is probably the answer

now its over, itll be interesting to see the fall out

i thought they may change captain, but its only willey not got a contract

i suppose buttler could be replaced but still play on

fwiw, rightly or wrongly, i think itll be put down to 'indian conditions'

all based on watching a couple of bits of highlights - never grabbed me this time

Looks like the ICC don’t have the authority to insist on sticking with the allocated pitch. Local cricket authorities make the decision. All a bit silly

I gave up about half way through. Found the games very uninspiring in the main

It was shite.  Read something the other day where out of all the games played only a handful were actually close - ie 3 wickets or less or <30 runs in it.

It also went on way too long and with there only being two 'knockout' games (the two semis) before the final didn't really give it that tournament feel.

They need to do something with the format, it did seem to go on much too long, like the Rugby World Cup, that seemed to last forever as well - any tournament has to be done and dusted within 4 weeks I reckon.

Was there an actual reason the cricket one was dragged out so long? - it's only 50 overs, each team should easily be able to play at least 3 times a week

This explains a bit of it. TV companies don't want to show more than one match a day

Losing to countries that weren't even good enough to qualify for the WC

We really are shit now

Fall from grace is unbelievable. Why are we playing different players in different formats, appreciate we have been doing it a while with some success.

Surely the best cricketers are the the same whatever format, that's the case for Australia.
