We have gone from a team where everyone knew their job and did it to 11 blokes seeming like they are making it up as they go along.  Edited October 29, 2023 by Ani Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I see David Willey's retired from international cricket after being the only member of the Wotld Cup squad not to be offered a central contract Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Naughty. Wonder why NZ didn't kick off at the time and say get fucked, we're sticking with no 7. Similarly the ICC- where were they before the start of play? Doubly glad they lost. Quote

Casino Posted November 20, 2023 Author Posted November 20, 2023 now its over, itll be interesting to see the fall out i thought they may change captain, but its only willey not got a contract i suppose buttler could be replaced but still play on fwiw, rightly or wrongly, i think itll be put down to 'indian conditions' all based on watching a couple of bits of highlights - never grabbed me this time Quote

Looks like the ICC don’t have the authority to insist on sticking with the allocated pitch. Local cricket authorities make the decision. All a bit silly Quote

Found the games very uninspiring in the main Quote
DazBob Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 It was shite. Read something the other day where out of all the games played only a handful were actually close - ie 3 wickets or less or <30 runs in it. It also went on way too long and with there only being two 'knockout' games (the two semis) before the final didn't really give it that tournament feel. Quote

They need to do something with the format, it did seem to go on much too long, like the Rugby World Cup, that seemed to last forever as well - any tournament has to be done and dusted within 4 weeks I reckon. Was there an actual reason the cricket one was dragged out so long? - it's only 50 overs, each team should easily be able to play at least 3 times a week Quote

Why are we playing different players in different formats, appreciate we have been doing it a while with some success. Surely the best cricketers are the the same whatever format, that's the case for Australia. Â Quote
