The Cost Of Living Crisis

Anyone felt the pinch yet?

Notice a good proportion of my hotels are quiet this week. But with the jubilee round the corner and pride the week after maybe folk are simply saving their trips for that.

Cant help but feel the media are driving a lot of it. They seem hell bent on us heading into a recession. Making people panic and stop spending.

They should be telling everyone its all gravy.

Only area Ive felt it is diesel. £154 to fill my van the other day. That's taking the piss.

We don't own our own gas and oil anymore folks. There is the simple answer.

So, for example, Hornsea 2 off the east coast will make fuck all difference, it's in our waters but not our energy.

Wind turbines for the win...

Probably need to spin on full pelt for 20 years to get back the carbon of their concrete foundations.

We need to embrace fracking and nuclear.

Or just print shit loads of money to cover the cost once rishi/truss is in place and further fuck us up on the inflation train.

The perception that “we” have “our own” energy reserves just for “us” to use is yet another fanciful notion trotted out by Bolty and the Real Patriots.

This would be a perfect opportunity for Rees Mogg to deliver a Brexit Bonus and nationalise all our “own” energy

I think we know that is unlikely and we’ll just have to be happy with signs in tunnels being in yards instead.

Trouble is, all the pubs and restaurants will charge more to cover their leccy bills.

Or go bust.

Our digestive systems can cope with raw meat, just takes a bit of training and lots of salt.

What your appendix is for innit?

Had a lovely roast just outside Canterbury yesterday. £21, given leccy that seems like a bargain nowadays.

Nobody knows for certain, but the most likely function of the appendix is to store 'good' bacteria to replenish your intenstines after a bout of diarrhea.

Tooth fairy is due for the first time for my daughter.

What's the going rate in these uncertain times.

Her face when I said you might not got anything other than a bigger tooth was a picture!

Dunno but when the time comes our house will be cashless and the tooth fairy does transfers

Our utility company had advised us to increase payments for £240 per month to £420.

My retirement pot is not index linked but is invested in the falling stockmarket. I may have to get a job at this rate. Missus is genuinely worried about how her mum will pay her bills with just a state pension.

The government are going to have to pull the October increase. I can't see that they have any other option.

We're all getting £400 credited to out bills in October I believe - so the first thing Truss does is tell everybody how great that is (which to be fair, it is) - she'll then, as you say, pull the October increase and "force" the price cap to remain at current levels, this will be subsidised by a windfall tax on the energy providers. She will have the audacity to infer this is 100% her idea, even though Labour have been calling for it for several weeks already.

She'll also shove in some tax cuts, which in reality will make next to fuck all difference to the average Joe, but could be worth thousands to the real high rollers.

Even if we keep the current price cap, some people are still going to really struggle this winter

Said this morning on news that fuel bills will be more than mortgages for some

Two years ago, we were told not to visit elderly relatives for fear of "killing them via the virus", now it's acceptable to let them freeze to death?

After the rise, my gas/elec will be more than my mortgage, which is also rising at a fair speed.

Quite the opposite. He's been advising people NOT to do that.
