Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

Let's hope his successor is more realistic and answers this question with "In 5 years time, I think we'll still be in League 1 competing for a play-off place." 💪

In league one with a club like Bolton? Give over.

It's like trying to be the tallest midget with a grown person and still failing

I don't know what you've explained but you are dead right that life is too short, it is far too short to be writing on bed sheets and moaning all the time

On the topic of "improving" every season.  Last season we got 87 points and finished 5 points behind 2nd and 13th points above 7th.

This season if we carry on at the same pace we'd be on about 75 points, maybe 20 points behind 2nd place, and 1 above 7th?

Everyone would know we've regressed, but IE would presumably get the chance to finish the job in the play offs, with the inevitable (based on previous games against the better sides) outcome.

If Sharon and the board are serious about promotion, OK give IE the chance to see if he can get enough points for top 3 like last season.  But the minute its obvious that can't happen and we're no longer improving or even standing still, there's an argument a different manager should be given the task of taking us through the play offs (and no I don't mean giving the job to a rookie like Barnsley did against us!).

Like last season, our fixtures so far have been relatively kind in that we've played most of the strugglers so far and 2 more home games than away.

It may be a push - as it was last year - to say we'll carry on at the same rate.

Re. Bedsheets. I couldn’t agree more. That is not my style nor is booing the players or any of that crap. However this is a fans forum to share opinions. I’ve been around long enough to know when a manager has had his time and Evatt has had his.

What makes no sense to me is people defending Evatt but we all have an opinion and I think it should be ok to share it on here.

I'll shout and have a go at the match, but all this witch hunt, making AI images, viciousness that's on social media is a no go, it's vile.

Sharon's in the Evatt in camp, so i'm in the Evatt in camp.

Having calmed down from the Wigan game, and having had a look at the posible replacements and having examined the table and not wanting to see any applecart overturned (least of all ours), I am in.

But I hope things change, and quick.

I agree in that I think he has run his course but as long as he is here I support BWFC and the staff connected to it

Literally nobody has defended Evatt on here.

I've not seen one person defending Evatt. On here, at the match itself, or any single Bolton fan I know.

100% of people were of the same opinion at 9am this morning.

Sharon made a statement with her own opinion, which happens to be the decisive one.

People re-mounted their high horses as though something had changed.

Funny.

I don't think we'll maintain our PPG average (1.67), but I've been wrong before and I'll be hoping for 3 wins in the rest of the year.  Realistically it will deteriorate on Friday but 2 home wins will correct that.

My point was that even if we maintain it, we are likely to go backwards this season in terms of league position and points total.  Would that be justification for a new manager with or without the play offs? (rhetorical question).

aye, nobody has defended him, but we're Bolton fans and will back the club regardless.

You make it sound like those who have just simply interpreted Sharon’s message as a call to support your club, as something which puts us on a pedestal or something.

Far from it. Quite the opposite, from my point of view. As I suspect others are, I’m looking down at myself questioning my sanity and decision making to go to Wycombe. 😂

While in the cold light of day reality, we know little has changed, where’s the fun in that as a football fan?

Listen I won’t be critical of people taking a different perspective. But equally don’t assume people who are choosing to support the club regardless, are arrogant, egotistical or condescending.

We are just simply demonstrating some of the characteristics our chairman has pointed out; loyalty, commitment and support.

Rather than being criticised for being on our high horses, I’d say we are more likely to be scoffed at for being crazy, loyal or blinkered.

Sometimes that’s what it takes to follow BWFC.

I don't get all this "we now have to get behind the manager' stuff.

No we don't.

By all means, knock the "sacked in the morning" chants on the head and put away the banner(s) saying "Evatt Out" as they're pointless, but then again so is chanting Evatt"s name.

We just need to get behind the team, same as always.

The fans are pissed off, and rightly so, at the minute. Being told he's going nowhere doesn't change that. The only thing that'll change it is performances and results.

Yeah I think this is accurate and kind of illustrates how the atmosphere has been recently and most of this season.

The Ian Evatt chants have been long gone, the bad defeats have had boos but hardly mirroring the toxicity of the Freedman or Megson days.

Which I feel is quite sad as football is an emotive support and the emotions appear and for me personally have slowly been drained out of us.

Most of us kind of knew before the statement that he wasn't going and now we know.

It's a sad state of affairs.

So many words have flown around from players, to the manager and now to the board. But as dedicated fans of this club we have not seen any of these words delivered into action and have only been let down time and time again.

Sharon and Dion Charles spoke to the club yesterday and said we are still on track, have a chance and have progressed each season, yet there is absolutely nothing that indicates this. The table doesn't lie.

And even if we sneak a play off spot, first of all is that good enough considering our talk of "progress" and our objectives pre season? And secondly, what evidence or confidence do we as supporters have in this team to go and win the playoffs after the last 2 seasons and our truly abysmal record in big games?

I fear the change was so needed and isn't coming and unless Evatt gets us on a crazy good run, gets us to turn up in the big games and has us at least around the top 2 spots then this negative cycle is just set to continue for the rest of the season.

Spot on Sir my feelings exactly.

Our fans were singing super Ian Evatt after Blackpool and during the first half at Cambridge.

JSL.

I agree with Daz btw. Nobody is behind Evatt. Everybody wants us to do well though and the call to arms is more to not make a shit situation any worse than it already is.

He'll either get himself sacked or turn it around. He doesn't need any help from fans for the former.

If it turns Megson like then fuck taking my kids to all that shite. I'd want us all to be better than all caper though.

It was bad at the end with Megson and that was in pre social media days. The whole atmosphere around football and the level of vitriol launched at managers, players, owners, refs is far worse now.

I'd also hope it doesn't descend to those levels but I'm only hopeful, not confident

Are you and cheese married, he likes gonzo posts, you like cheese posts, it’s getting quite creepy especially since no normal person ever likes cheeses posts? 🤔
