According to BBC website, it was unproven so they had to overturn it

Weird one.

Evatt denied the accusations of abusive language immediately. He's accepted his own behaviour could be better previously, and I reckon he would have owned up this time. On that basis, I tend to believe him.

That said, without any direct evidence either way, I'm a bit surprised that they've not backed the referee.

Guess as it was in the tunnel then the fourth official and linesmen might not have been nearby and there was no one to back up the ref's claim

Evatt may well have have used language that justified a red but without anyone else hearing it then it's overturned as unproven

Worrying comments from Evatt this morning...

Care to share? Nevermind I've just been on the Bolton News site. Sounds a bit down but I read it as get through this and plan for next season here regardless of Division.

he's just being a dramatic fanny, me me me

“No. I haven’t enjoyed this week, I haven’t. it has taken an awful lot out of me.

“And as I have said, I have 11 games to go and then I’ll reset in the summer and think about what happens in the future.

“But, for now, my full focus is on trying to get us out of this division. I love working with these lads, I love working for this football club and we are certainly going to give it our all.

“There are 11 games to go, so it is about keeping that togetherness now, the strong unity as a football club – not just us, everybody – and giving it the best possible shot we can.

“It has been a really hot pace, really tough. And we are going to do our best to stick with it.”

Can be read a couple of different ways, could easily see how some would think it meant he was on the verge of quitting or leaving for another job.

How does he think we all felt?

Fuck me its the lowest Ive felt in 30 years after those two shit shows.

Some things are better not said Ian lad.

Hes had nothing but backing for 3 solid years from the board to the fans.

I’m concerned the fans took their criticism too far in the last week without looking at the bigger picture.
Yes it happens at all clubs, and maybe players/staff need to avoid looking online.

Atmosphere was horrendous Saturday (not  unusual of course), but it was notable that I didn’t once hear a chant for Evatt.

I get that emotions are running high after two derby losses, but the man has a 51%+ win percentage, has done an awful lot more good than bad, and he’s proven me wrong when we’ve been had the occasional bad run with every season he’s been in charge.
I’ve learnt to trust the process with him.

The more negativity drags on, not to mention towards the players too, and especially considering we actually won to nil on Saturday, the more I feel we could undo all the progress we've had in the last four years.

Some of the comments I’ve seen in Evatt’s direction on Twitter are vile. Quite personal  and I’ve no doubt he’s seen them.

We have this manager and squad up until the rest of the season regardless. Our best chance of going up is getting behind them.

It’s no coincidence our form has taken a downturn since Baxter’s injury either. I’m not blaming Coleman, but Baxter was very solid and the team bred confidence as a result.
I feel like Coleman/defence are a bit shaky and lacking coordination, and this is flowing through the rest of the team.

Doesn’t take any degree of criticism the fella.

on the whole what he’s done for the football club over the past 3 years or so has been fantastic. But it doesn’t mean you’re not open to criticism. Whether it’s because as a fanbase people expect too much or the standards the team set have been too high I don’t know. But then you start regularly calling out for the fan base for more backing or for things they’re commenting on it can go south very quickly

we haven’t felt as connected to the football club for many years. Shown in the sales at home and the brilliant followings away. With that comes scrutiny and if you can’t live with it then go somewhere else. It’s Bolton wanderers ffs it’s not as though he’s managing United or Real Madrid.

if we don’t go up then for all the good work the blame will rest firmly at his door. Regular “unacceptable” performances from the team that then occur again and he’s been backed heavily by the board for this level of football. That might be a good position for him to bow out then end up at some lower end champ side like Stoke

100% behind him but when you talk about unity etc being important don't say things like that

If he is getting it from certain quarters for whatever reason, that won't help

He's not getting it from the stands

Stay off twitter

Aye. So no one will hear or see the comments.

The timing is horrific.

Nailed on it gets pinned on a top all somewhere.

He's had his own video/off pitch issues to deal with too, which won't have helped.

He's certainly an emotional character, and probably just being open, but it isn't great timing for sure.

He's said himself that social media is dangerous, and warned his players, but if those same players also read his comments, they may feel conflicted too.

Hopefully it's just sommert and nowt, and will blow over. We'll see.
