The Queen

Seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

She is 96.

  • RIP. Very sad.  Whether you're Royalist, anti-Royalist or somewhere in between.  For the vast majority of us, she's been our Queen for all our lives.  Feels strange that it's no longer the case.

  • She did this. And she probably didn’t have to because she was the Queen. But she did. What a woman.

Thing is, your personal losses, however sad, don’t affect those outside of your immediate group of family and friends. The loss f the Queen, however little you understand the outpouring of grief, is a little bit different.

To be blunt, public property. To Queen was an ever presence.

As daft as it sounds the Queens death has put a hole in the fabric of the world. I would be surprised if this story isn't on the front page of every newspaper, and on every news prog in the world. CNN International has had nothing else on its station since yesterday afternoon.

It’s a shame Boris is such a deplorable cunt

Because his written work really is magnificent when it needs to be.

His speech in the commons just now is pretty much the best one you’ll hear about the Queen.

Weasel words from someone who lied to her face for his own Political gain.

Said that yesterday. Lied to her, made her sit on her own at Phil’s funeral. Cunt.

But I’m talking purely about his ability with a pen. Cannot be denied.

Cunt.

It'll be a wasted journey if he is.

Camilla will probably have to retire from being Iron Maiden guitarist now she’s a queen

How dare you talk about our Queen like that? Have some respect.

How dare you imply there is anything negative about being compared with Janick Gers.

I have no feelings whatsoever towards the royals

But, I haven't turned the news off since yesterday afternoon

Massive moment in our history

Probably be doing this with the little one as homework in a few years

The 3rd hour off NBC's morning show is being dedicated to the Queen, all presenters are in black including the 2 in London, a very nice touch

Also as the news broke yesterday Biden made his way across DC to the British Embassy to sign the book of condolence ... again another nice touch

No tv or radio for me now until it returns to normal. Tomorrow, golf and out for meal, Sunday, breakfast, walk & gym… complete radio silence.

Her first football match was the 53 final us v blackpool .

Her first football match as Queen was indeed the 1953 Cup Final , her first match was Millwall v Chelsea in 1945

Was reading that in 1950 there were only about 300,000 televisions in the UK but by the time the 53 Cup Final came along there were nearly 5 million, most of which were acquired in the run up to the Queens Coronation which was held a month after the Cup Final.   So her Coronation certainly helped get the Bolton Blackpool Cup Final  in front of a massive TV audience.

Have family members who have recounted over the years crowding round tiny tv screens 10 deep watching the 53 final.

In February 1952 - 3 days after her father George VI died  we played our first game under her reign against Charlton Athletic, and coincidentally it was Charlton we played  last week in what has turned out to be our last match with her on the throne.

we do seem to play Charlton most seasons and always have, when i was first interested in the Whites we seemed to play Fulham every week obvs we didn't but as a young kid it seemed that way.🤔

Didn't some statto geek once research who we had played the most times?

Might have imagined this but I'm thinking of it was Blackburn rovers???

The teams that Bolton Wanderers have met most in league competition are Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers, against whom they have contested 156 league matches. Bolton have recorded more victories against Blackburn than any other club, with 64. West Bromwich Albion drew 44 of their 106 league encounters with Bolton, more than any other club. The team have lost more league matches to Everton than to any other club, having been beaten by them 70 times in 138 encounters.[3]

Wikipedia, so no idea how accurate it is.

He should have had a MASSIVE crown on for that, whilst sat atop a horse.

And a big fuck off sword.

And a deer being turned on a spit over a huge fire by a load of soldiers

He should have ended by at least suggesting an invasion of the French.

Otherwise, all good.

He doesn’t like that Megan character does he?
