The Queen

Seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

She is 96.

  • RIP. Very sad.  Whether you're Royalist, anti-Royalist or somewhere in between.  For the vast majority of us, she's been our Queen for all our lives.  Feels strange that it's no longer the case.

  • She did this. And she probably didn’t have to because she was the Queen. But she did. What a woman.

R.I.P Her Majesty The Queen, wonderful lady gave her word in 1953 and didn’t disappoint, a huge loss to us.   GSOGK

There is a slightly uneasy feeling that Liz going changes how Britain will be seen on the world stage.

Our politics has become a basket case but we’ve always had the stability of the Queen to kinda sorta fall back on.

Charles simply won’t pack the same punch.

Theres a definite change afoot.

Constitutional stability comes from the monarchy. Political stability comes from the populous. Accepting the result of democratic elections.
Britain will be seen in many ways post Elizabeth II. Most countries are republics so won’t give a shit.
I’m sure Charles will give as much as his mother. I don’t see it being a problem. The Queen is dead, long live the King.

If folk don't know it it's probably worth looking up her madien speech.

She always believed that it was a pact between her and her subjects. Like all good monarches she understood that its a union. One doesn't exist without the other, they are here at our bequest, and we expect service on our behalf.

Been the same for thousands of years, if you don't respect that relationship history doesn't sit well with the crown.

She will be revered are rightly so for understanding the pact.

In a hotel in Rhodes where got management to put Union Flag at half mast.

French majority in the hotel may get served tonight.

RiP ER II.

One of the saddest images of the last few years this.

Whilst she (and many plebs like me and thee) did this at funerals for loved ones Boris and chums had parties.

Never forget.

Rest in peace.

I reckon Adele has made a million already from radio plays just since 6pm.

There's literally no escaping this now for 10 days is there.

What a great lady, we will never see the likes of her ever again in the royal family. RIP

I'm not a monarchist, royalist or whatever, but she was a great advert for this country. The best ever.

However, 90 odd year-old people die. And lots of them within months of their partners.

Life goes on, unfortunately so does death.

Just give me one minute........🤔

Now is the time to kneel.

RIP ma'am and thank you.

I'm not a massive Royalist, but the Queen's benefits to our economy were clear for all to see.

This image above represents everything about her for me. Dignified and strong in the toughest of times, delivering a big "fuck you" to the Government, by showing them that this how a leader behaves.

The contrast between head of state and head of government couldn't have been starker and some people want us to be a republic?

You might have guessed I'm no royalist and not sure I'd agree with Traf's take re. the economy.

Having said that the death of anybody isn't something to be celebrated and while I'll never understand the massive outpouring of grief for somebody they don't know personally, I've lost too many people over this last couple of years to know what grief feels like and know that those feelings are real.

Thing is, your personal losses, however sad, don’t affect those outside of your immediate group of family and friends. The loss f the Queen, however little you understand the outpouring of grief, is a little bit different.

My point was I understand that, to them, those feelings are real.

I probably didn't articulate it very well
