One statistic I heard today was that the usual release rate is 800 people a day these days, a lot higher than I expected. It certainly took that plonker hosting LBC Breakfast by surprise.

Not quite sure what your point is ? He has not been convicted of rape, surely you are not suggesting we abandon 'guilty until proven innocent' because the Daily Mail is reporting someone was spraying round £18 fizzy wine ? 
 

He was released because he had served the pre requisite amount of his sentence but then arrested for other allegations. That is how the system works. Unless you think someone arrested for say shop lifting can be held indefinitely if they are accused of a more serious crime ?
