Park life?

Someone did get killed there and it always kicks off

https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/11/mass-brawl-erupts-parklife-festival-police-arrest-52-people-21010397/

As a percentage arrests around the same number

Park life is an adult only festival which you can only enter with a ticket in the middle of a big park. Not sure how it’s similar to NHC

Two million, over a million. Stop obsessing over semantics. It’s all out there for folk to read.

I’d be more interested if you take 2 million people across London on any given weekend, & see what the average number of arrests & other incidents there are.

1.5 million on an anti war protest. Can’t remember if there were any stabbings, or rapes. It was a few years back though, I doubt there was. I could be wrong.

Half a million manage  to get though a weekend in Bolton without being nicked or stabbing someone at the food and drink festival.

Oh ok, I wasn't aware what your criteria for a similar event was

so your on about carnivals and not festivals

Which are free to attend events in public places near main roads, or something

Leave it with me

Any event similar, as I said, A ticketed adult only event, in a park is hardly similar. Only one I can think of is the Bolton one. Hundreds of thousands over a weekend, family event, in a town/city setting, celebrating different cultures, food and drink stalls, music live bands etc

Yeah I don't know what the answer is to be honest

Do we ban park life

Or

Do we make NHC an all ticket adult only event in a park, and then they can do what they want

Two tier festivals

I’ve lost track of your agenda here mate. What’s your point?

I’m saying we shouldn’t blame the carnival for knife crime & gang culture. These a wider , deeper rooted social issues. They need to make changes clearly, but banning it won’t solve the issue.

Take 2 million people across London on any given weekend & you see similar offences, just not on the same scale I assume. Though I’ve not got the data, which is why I said it’d be interesting to see.

I went in 2018 with a mate when I lived in London. Didn’t stay long & it was in the afternoon but didn’t see any trouble. There were also a shit load of arrests & trouble that year, but with the sheer numbers of people you don’t always see it & a lot take place after the carnival. That doesn’t mean innocent people don’t get caught up in it. There were lots of positive things going on & banning them seems odd. It just needs to be moved & adapted, so it’s not so dense maybe. Punishing the organisers & majority peaceful attending isn’t the way forward.

My agenda? I don’t have really have one. All I said was that some people want it banned or cancelled and I can see their point.

No matter which way you look at it the carnival attracts trouble, and it’s not the kind of trouble that you see at other events. Year in year out multiple stabbings, multiple rapes, sexual assaults, police and emergency workers getting assaulted, business's have to close for the weekend, residents board their houses up and move away. It’s a magnet for trouble. For you to say “yes there’s loads of people there so it’s not that bad” and “I didn’t see any trouble” is just a bit ignorant.

I'm not sure Bolton Food & Drink Festival can be used as a comparison tbh, where a large percentage are there to simply look at chutneys and cheeses,

Has he brought down the BBC yet?

Hopefully when he gets banged up, he has to take plenty of BBC, on a regular basis

Ignorant😂

did you read my post where I said there was loads of trouble the year I went?

The carnival isn’t the problem. It doesn’t need cancelling.

It’s a knife crime & gang culture epidemic

Yep ignorant.

So this knife crime and gang culture. Why didn’t we read about it after pride? Bolton food and beer? Tommy Robinson March? Etc etc

This “epidemic” seems to get worse every Aug bank holiday around the Notting Hill area. I wonder why?

It’s the “come fck things up stall” at Notting Hill carnival.

They have it every year & ask London’s local gangsters to come.

There are pick pocket workshops, sexual harassment role play & zombie knife battles. I honestly think if the carnival stops encouraging violence then we’ll see a reduction in crime.

Bolton food & drinks festival doesn’t do these, they just teach people how to make Kimchi. Which is why the crime rate is non existent.
